I think someone on the plaza wrote a book called perrienath or something like that. Was it Sarrana? I remember reading this about a year ago, but I haven’t been able to find out who. Can anyone tell me? (Roh said I could post this in here, just to let the mods and admins know)

Sorry, Stiffler, but I wasn’t even on the plaza a year ago. I tried searching for it through the forum search but I couldn’t find anything. Maybe you should try asking Saranna herself if she wrote it or not. Makes more sense that way

I wasn’t even around in those days, but I do know how to use a search engine, so hows this for a response...

July 2005, Dincairwen, A History of the Periannath

Is this what you are looking for?

Whoa! You found that on the forum search? I searched for the word "periannath" but I only found the Periannath Walking club. Ah well...

I just tried searching for that to get the link, and I can’t find it. I even searched all threads started by Dinc, and nothing. Can I get a link to that?

Anything you Google will 90% certain turn up a result. Is that the book you wanted? Mine was a fantasy called Perian’s Journey but it is now out of print

awww..I’m sowwy Saranna. At least you had a book out, though. I never did. And don’t feel bad, I’m sue you know that it’s very rare for books to become really well known. J.K. Rowling is the only millionaire author living or dead. There must be a way to get ahold of your book though?I knew the name of your book wasn’t actually Perreinath, so I didn’t google it. Thanks for answering, though!

Saranna - Yes, you’re quite right there about Googling. Also, adding site:lotrplaza.com as part of the search string helps narrow things down  And congrats on getting a book published, thats a real achievement.

Stiff - I couldn’t find the link to Dinc’s book with my search. Unfortunately the result I came up with was part of a list of books that had been published by people on the Plaza. None had links.

Saranna, you actually published a book with a "Perian"? How fascinating! But was it allowed to use that concept? Or perhaps it was not about Hobbits at all anyway? Pray tell more!

Well to be honest I did not realise till after it was published that the name I thought I had invented actually appears in LOTR!  I thought it was a good name for a fantasy hero - and so it was!  there’s a few odd copies on amazon still I think.  It had great reviews, rotten sales

Is there any chance you can tell us a little about your book? Maybe if it relates to Tolkien in any way or anything (so we can keep it in this forum).

Saranna... I just posted a comment about names in another thread in response to a comment on the difficulty to come up with original names. I think it does happen that what you think is original may also be someone else’s original. I have a friend that writes and I know that has happened with him a few times! How exciting that you were published though! Congrats on that!

Thoreandan good advice on the site:lotrplaza.com addition to the search!  I expect most just use the plaza search engine. Nice tip.

Stiffler, it is a fantasy with a journey and a wizard and magic and things - but not a take-off of Middle-Earth, I would not dare and anyway it would be illegal.
Laie, thanks for the comforting words!

Ah, I see. Well, I hope that one day we can have a little discussion about it in here. It’s too bad it’s out of print, because I would have to get it and read it, just because..well, I don’t know. I will keep my eye open for it and get it when I can. And then (if you want, of course) we can have a little discussion about it here. I think it would be fun, and cool!
