Lord of the Rings is full of fantasic language and one area that barely gets a mention is some of the funny excalmations from the Hobbits in particular.

In the chapter of TTT ’The Taming of Smeagol’, when Frodo and Sam first spot Gollum coming down the cliff towards them Sam exclaims ’It’s that Gollum!Snakes and adders!’. This seemed really comical and I was wondering if people have favourites of their own they’d like to share?

There’s one I like, also said by Sam. I think its something like, "Your nought but a ninnyhammer Sam Gamgee!" I laughed at that, ninnyhammer is a funny word

They are all great.  It’s so much fun to have all of the hobbitisms contrasting with the atmoshpere of Mordor or Gondor or whatever.  I also love the description of the confrontation between Sam and Faramir.

Oh, and "You open your mouth and put your foot in it" or something like that later in that part, after he’s mentioned the ring.

My favorite has to be from Sam after Gandalf catches him hiding below the window in the FotR,

"Eavesdropping, sir? I don’t follow you, begging your pardon. There ain’t no eaves at Bag End, and that’s a fact."- Sam

It may not be an exclamation, but I always loved it, the hobbits always did have the best lines, so cute lol

I don’t know half of you half as well as i should like, and i like less than half of you as well as you deserve..

A very funny exclamation is Gimli’s talking surprised to Merry and Pippin in Isenguard after the defeat of Saruman and the Battle of Helm’s Deep. The whoole scene is very funny and the words of Gimli that I can’t remember of make it even funnier with the warriors tired after the deadly battle and the hobbits realaxed in the storage of Saruman drinking and eating

I think that the best exclamation is in the Two Towers, in the beginning, after the battle of Helm’s Deep when Legolas wakes up Merry and Pippin exclaiming, "Master Sluggard." I think that it’s an interesting thing to hear, coming from Legolas especially, and it’s a line that I think would have done very well in the movie!
