The Azaghâl Medal

Azaghâl, Lord of Belegost in the First Age, first owner of the famed Dragon Helm, the most renowned Dwarf Warrior. In the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, the fifth battle of the Wars of Beleriand, men and elves alike broke and ran in the face of the dragons. But the Dwarves led by Azaghâl stood firm, their hardiness, resistance to fire and their great helms shielding them. The Dwarves ringed Glaurung, hacking at the dragon with their great axes and Azaghâl himself severely wounded Glaurung forcing the dragon to leave the field of battle. Azaghâl received a mortal wound and died on the battlefield. For these reasons have we named our foremost battlefield honour the Azaghâl Medal.

Know ye all now it is ordained that the Azaghâl Medal shall only be awarded for most conspicuous bravery, or some daring or pre-eminent act of valour or self-sacrifice or extreme devotion to duty in the presence of the enemy. The medal will be awarded by Royal Assent and presented by Queen or King. It is the highest decoration that can be awarded to a member of the Army of Khazad-dûm.

Diamond: Fearlessness, invincibility, strength, courage, bravery,
Outer circle: Azaghâl in Angerthas Moria. Inner circle, blessing runes:
Siegel: Victory; the sun; light; good; triumph of good over evil.
Tyr: War; justice; law; regulation; sacrifice; determination.
Ur: Physical / emotional / spiritual strength; endurance; courage; freedom; health; virility; challenge; change.
Eoh: Death; rebirth; continuity; endurance; courage; strength.
