The Telchar Medal

The Telchar Medal is to be granted for superior achievements in our Kingdom in any single aspect of life. This will include Lore, The Arts and Crafts, any Clan activity and DAR - for example. This is The Telchar Medal .

Telchar of Nogrod is undoubtedly the greatest Dwarven craftsman of all time. An apprentice of Gamil Zirak in his youth, he went on to forge some of the most famous examples of the smithying art. He made the Dragon Helm for Azaghâl, later known as the Helm of Hador or the Helm of Dor-Lomin and worn by Turin Dread-Helm. Telchar forged Angrist for Curufin. Beren took Angrist from Curufin and used it to cut the Silmaril from Morgoth's crown.

This too is written: “Now Thingol had in Menegroth in deep armouries filled with great wealth of weapons: metal wrought like fishes mail and shining like water in the moon; swords and axes, shields and helms wrought by Telchar himself.”

Last, but no means least, it was Telchar who wrought Narsil, the sword of Elendil later reforged for Aragorn and renamed Anduril. “… and the sword of Elendil filled Orcs and Men with fear, for it shone with the light of the sun and of the moon, and it was named Narsil.”

So Telchar's known works include Narsil, the Helm of Hador, Angrist and Thingol's Armoury. His works were made for Kings. For these reasons do we choose to use the name “The Telchar Medal”.

Know ye all now it is ordained that the Telchar Medal shall only be awarded for continual service, supreme achievements and significant contributions to our Kingdom. The medal will be awarded by Royal Assent and presented by Queen or King.
