Amarth-in-Edhil
Fortune of the Elves

A game by Taramiluiel

~ Players, or teams, take turns to move clockwise around the board, trading their gems for cards. ~
~ Whoever has the most cards at the end, wins! ~

Gameplay

  • Players or teams start on the Star of Fëanor. The GM will roll a die to determine order of play.
  • Each player/team is given seven gems at the start, which are used to purchase cards.
  • Every time the player/team lands on or passes the Star he gets five more gems.
  • The GM rolls and posts all player/team movements at the same time.
  • All players/teams post their decisions within 24 hours. You must roleplay your moves.
  • If two or more players/teams land on the same space, the one whose turn came first gets to "go" first. Subsequent players/teams must post additional choices.
  • Board Spaces

If the player lands on an Elves square, she can choose to trade gems for a taith Edhel, or Elf card.
~ Elf cards on the first row (gold Imladris and yellow Woodland Realms) require one gem.
~ Elf cards on the second row (dark red Finwë and red Fëanor) require two gems.
~ Elf cards on the third row (dark blue Fingolfin and blue Gondolin) require three gems.
~ Elf cards on the fourth row (dark green Doriath and green Lúthien) require four gems.
~ The player can select which card in the category he would like; each category has eight Elves.
~ If the player cannot afford to purchase a card, her turn ends.
~ The player can elect not to purchase a card, in which case his turn ends.
~ If there are no cards left in that category, the player's turn ends.

If the player lands on a Creation square, she is given a card from that category for free.
~ There are four different categories of Creations: Crafts, Blades, Tomes, and Jewels.
~ Each category has six different cards to choose from.
~ Creation cards do not require any gems.

If the player lands on Fortune, Amarth, the GM rolls a die to determine his fortune.
~ Fortunes include moving ahead or back a number of spaces, losing or gaining gems, and moving to a specific square on the board.
~ If a player moves to a new square, she follows the normal gameplay for that square.

If a player lands on a category that has no remaining cards, nothing happens and his turn ends.

    Winning the Game

  • The game will last for the number of turns agreed upon at the start.
  • The winner is the player, or team, with the most taithath, or cards, when the game ends.
~ Total includes all Elf-cards as well as all Creations cards.
~ In case of a tie, the team with the most gems wins.
