Elven Army of Rivendell
Quest for Mithril
The Elven Army of Rivendell had a Quest RPG for Mithril, especially involving the Sea Forces.
Because of the short shut-down of the Plaza, many elves are celebrating while they should be preparing for the quest (guilty as charged) The quest gets off to a good start with lots of drunk elves. Well, one drunk elf (Elle) and one 'normal' elf (Arele) Arele also receives a diploma of normalcy.
Aurethil isn't doing too well on the ship. As she so greatly put it *is getting seasick* for Eru... I'm a wood elf! what am I doing in the sea??
After leaving Rivendell, the army sails down Gwathlo in the swanships.
The current gets stronger, and the crew can hear the distant roar of a waterfall off in the distance. There is no way to get to the shore, so they only have one way to go. Forward and down. El sees the waterfall getting closer and closer. The crew just stand there, dumbfounded. Luckily, El takes charge and says " Alright, crew we need to get down there one way or another. We have our animals to help us. The dragons is what we need. I have only one, but we need more. In order to create a fountain at the bottom of the waterfall so it would pick us up." El then goes under water with his and Arele's dragons. They (the dragons) start to use their water powers to create a fountain to safely catch the boat. This all goes according to plan and the ship is kept safe! All seems to be going well until the crew notices that the river is getting shallow in many places. The ship is stuck close to the shore and all the crew must work together to get it out of the shallows in one piece. Nemroneem attempts to cast a spell to create a wave to push it along, but alas! it is a spell that not even a High Lord can master. (10 points for trying, though!) They get the ship out eventually, with some help from ropes, Mithro's pole vaulting thing and Arlo's bubblegum bomb!
The elves route changes and the river begins to narrow. They soon spot an entrance to the underground part of the river, tunnel-like in appearance. Unfortunately, large animals are unable to follow, so the elves are left pretty much defenceless in the animal stakes. As they enter the tunnel, darkness engulfes them. All seems eerily quiet, until the gentle swish of wings can be heard. The noise gets louder and louder, and in the light of their torches, the elves can see giant bats. Peeved off at being disturbed, they begin attacking the ship. Mithro begins shooting at them with arrows, before slashing at them with his sword. He then begins lighting torches, as bats are afraid of light. Mithro then spots the 'leader' bat and the battle for his demise begins. The g.g. bat spits on the deck with acid, burning a hole through the floor. With all the crew fighting as one to kill him, it is too much and the bat dies. With his death, the other bats grow weaker and weaker. The elves kill most of them and some fly in retreat. The last of the bats, in agony, steals a torch from the elves and lights a fire on the side of the ship. The flames are leaping towards the sails, when Elnarsil suddenly realises that Arlo's vacuum's are finally put into good use. He sucks up the water, before turning the v.c on reverse and directing the nozzle towards the flames. They start to die down and with the water left in the v.c. El points it towards the bats. Let's just say, that took care of them! The elves look up and in the distance, see daylight. They begin to bless Eru, before their praises abruptly turn into curses. The river ahead has been blocked by a freshly built dam. Worse still, Men of Harad are seen around it and they do not look happy. The Men notice the elves and within a split second, they begin firing at them. Startled at first, the elves begin to shoot back. Someone then notices two oliphaunts with war towers on top of them. Arele points them out to El, who yells 'Fight your way through! Get an oliphaunt! Get horses!' Instead of charging in, the elves use the element of surprise and sneak up on the Harad-drim. Startled, they have no time to draw weapons, and the elves land safely on shore. Mithro, Ally and Arlo begin to play with the oliphaunt, taming him (thanks for that guys and gal!:*) Elnarsil then arrives and they begin the journey again. The ancient Numenorean haven comes into sight. But it isn't all good. The elves notice that it is being held by the corsairs of Umbar. Instead of being a haven, it is now a fortress. A heavily-guarded fortress. Line after line of defence prevents the elves from getting in. They notice the Jolly Roger on top of the highest tower. Being the lovely, kind, nice people they are, the elves vow to free them for enslavement. The first thing they encounter, is the first line of defence and large fence with sharp spikes on top. The oliphaunt comes in handy when it knocks down the fence. The elves advance. Charging forward, they are bought to an abrupt stop. Before them is a dike filled with man and elf-eating fish. Too wide to jump and too long to run around, they have only one choice. Using some of the fence from the F.L.O.D. Elnarsil constructs a bridge for them to cross. After reaching the other side, they are met with a small hill. On top of it are corsairs pushing giant stones and burning wood down the hill, trying to squash the elves or push them into the dike. There is only one way-up. The crew go mad and charge towards the corsairs on foot, killing blindly. All seems lost, as unfortunately, it looks like the corsairs are gonna win-elves being outnumbered 10 to 1, but all of a sudden a roar is heard from behind the elves. 2 dragons are seen and they swoop down, scattering the corsairs. Arele yells to Anglachel 'THERE'S A GAP!! GET THROUGH!! BUT DON'T LET YOUR GUARD DOWN!!" The elves reach the top of the hill, but the corsairs are quicker. They retreat behind the gate and slam it shut. Being made during the Numenoreans days of power, it is too powerful for the elves to destroy. So Aurethil and Anglachel begin taunting them, in an attempt to get them to open the gates.
Arele yells to the corsairs, threatening not to invite them to her party if they don't open up. Tempted as the corsairs are, the gates still remain closed. Elnarsil arrives and whispers in his dragon's ear. And so begins the Battle of Britney Spears. Arele's dragon joins in, but with a more deadly type of singing (if there is one!) Spice Girls. The corsairs try to run, but Arele works some elf-magic. The corsairs are now glued to the spot, unable to move, unable to stop the singing. It's a real Broadway Production! Thrown into the mix are some rotten fruit and paint balloons. The corsairs have enough and the gates open. The Host appears, dressed in black armour, riding a winged creature. But a Ring cannot be seen on his finger, so the elves assume this isn't the dreaded captain. In front of them is an elf, being held hostage. They recognize it as Ani, and El (isn't he every girls dream guy! *sniggers*) rushes forward and rescues her from the clutches of the corsairs. The fighting begins and the elves are fighting valiantly, when Arele rushes out into the middle of the battle, in an attempt to check over Ani. She then runs back to the ship, to get medical supplies. Before she can reach the ship, a corsairs' arrow pierces her arm. She falls and all her lovely little crew-mates join together in an attempt to heal her. Elnarsil then gives her some of his own life, but only enough to make her slightly coherent. The elves realise that their tactics aren't working. Using El's dragon, they cast some magic to bring a wave from the dike (see above) laced with man and elf-eating fish. This throws the corsairs and the elves begin attacking again. It seems to be working until Anar spots a thing on a horse. With a Ring. Luckily, it isn't the true leader, but his still very scary substitute. But tthe substitute is a bit of a wuss and when El rushes toward him with his sword raised high, the corsair surrenders (obviously not as stupid as we all thought!) The elves enter the city where lots of joyous little things await them. Sitting in the restaurant, Arele, Elle and Anglachel are talking. But something is very wrong with Arele. Elle and Anglachel notice and they go to tell Elnarsil about it, but before they can do anything about it Arele turns into a tarantula. This totally freaks out the crew, even more so when Elnarsil announces that one of their ancestors was bitten by Ungoliant. While their baby was fine, the next was not. The spider-gene has transferred to Arele. She is now huge and in the midst of the scuffle she has captured Ally and is attempting to run off with her to drink her blood. The crew stop her before she can escape and this makes Arele very mad. She begins to sprout at an enormous rate. Ally crashes to the ground as Arele looks as if she was going to turn back into an elf. Instead of stopping at her normal elf height, she is still growing. She screams, a spine-tingling scream that lets you know something is wrong. She is now a formidable giant. 'You fools!' she cries. 'This is not your precious Arele! I am the spirit of Sauron! I was on that arrow when it hit her! She has power in her, but not enough. I can feel her fighting against me.' Suddenly the voice of Sauron changes and it is clearly Arele talking. 'Help me! A spell! Get the arrow! There is a spell on it, written in the language of Mordor but it is in moon-runes!' The voice changes 'Listen not to her! Your quest was doomed from the start!' This really freaks the elves out, before being bought under the command of Elnarsil. He uses Anglachell's sword and (which was made out of a meteorite from the moon) reads the moon-runes. The elves then run outside and Spider-Sauron-Arele chases after them. Elnarsil's dragon then summons a storm. The water is too much for Spider-Sauron-Arele to handle and the elves can hear the voice of Sauron screaming 'I'm melting! I'm melting!' (thanks Anglachel!)Arele is now her normal self. The elves go to see if she's alright (which she is!) and they begin the quest again. A ship appears and the crew board. The elves have just left the last port of call before the Undying Lands.
The army leaves Pelargir and sail west on one of the dragon carrier ships and tries to find the straight road to the Undying Lands. But El notices that the waters are full of giant sharks, which are capable of destroying the ships. Aduchil is on the lookout, when he spots a shark. The crew are thrown into a state of disarray, when they all begin firing at the sharks, with harpoons. It all seems to be going well, as the elves are true with their aim. But there are too many to kill. Using the ballista's, Anar then begins to shoot at the sharks, with some help from Ani on the crossbow. Peace finally reigns. But not for long. A huge storm is brewing. It's getting closer and closer, with winds beginning at 68 m/p/h. Luckily, this is a sea-forces quest, so the crew knows what to do. But while Anar is taking down the topsails, Ani goes to help and is washed overboard by a huge wave. But dear Ani is not in there for long. She is rescued by...(can anyone guess?!) Elnarsil! (I must be the evil twin! I do have a spider-gene and Sauron did possess me!) The storm is starting to die down, but instead of pleasing the crew, it worries them no end. The water starts to become dangerous. Elnarsil then has the idea of emptying soap into the water, to make it 'heavy' and to calm the waves. Luckily, it works and the elves are safe for now. During the storm, the sails sustained heavy damage and are in dire need of being prepared. Some elves spot a small island in the distance, the last small remainder of Numenorean archipelago. They begin to sail towards it, for supplies and fresh water. When they reach the island, the elves notice a huge orcish wreck of a ship. Warily, they begin the repair of the sails, all the time keeping an eye of for anything suspicious. Anar, Ally and Elle go off to search the island. A noise is heard near them. It is the first appearance of the dreaded...The Abhorred! (scary 70's cult music) El then begins his battle with The Abhorred-a la Broadway! TA then begins to play dirty, when his dragon burns off El's hair. Luckily El has Legolas' hair tonic with him. Here the battle ends...for now. The elves retreat back to their ship.
The elves are now sailing towards the Undying Lands, and with his keen sight, Elnarsil can see them off in the distance. The elves begin to the see the Undying Lands and are hypnotized by its beauty. They land and with the help of Belegfuin's new love (!) Earenna, they are shown and directed around. Arele then gets onto the land has some sort of attack. Luckily, Aurethil is there to reassure her and the local elf nearby. Laebeth appears and asks the elf to direct Arele, Aurethil, herself and El to their Lord. They are directed to the Palace of Olwe. The crew retire to their quarters, but the 4 of them continue on into Olwe's throne room. Their discussions goes as planned, and the 4 leave with a boat made of and filled with mithril, weapons and for every elf that was on the quest, first class mithril armour from the Teleri. Andurin MC also receives a Mithril Mandarin. The whole crew then partake in a feast. They leave then, heartbroken.
The elves are sailing away with all their little goodies, when suddenly the elves see the corsair fleet ahead. Three great ships, heavily armed with some of their most dangerous weapons. On the deck of the biggest ship can be seen the dreaded corsair captain himself. The crew begin to whisper to each other, anxiety washing over them all. They realise their is nothing they can do, as their holds are full of Mithril. Dragons circle both the corsairs and the elves. With a mighty roar, the elves begin the battle of the sea.
El begins by flying off on Arean (yeah, that's right~desert your crews!! LOL!) to fight the corsairs from the air and underwater. The corsairs (Mordorians) and the elves begin to fight, defending and attacking admirably. Luckily for the elves, the mighty Laebeth tells El to get his butt back on the ship, I mean, defend from the deck and El gives his dragon to Lae. The battle turns into one in the air, on the decks and under-water. Arlo (very happily!) uses his trademark (and Ally's!) lightning. The elves ask very nicely if they can pass, but the corsairs wouldn't dream of it unless the elves give up their mithril. Not being as stupid as the corsairs look, they disagree and begin battle again. Fighting and battling, neither the elves or the corsairs look as if they're going to back down. They fight for what seems like ages, damage being done to both sides before the corsairs retreat, leaving the elves victorious. Or are they? They (the Corsairs) then return, refreshed and hungry for blood. But they didn't expect the elves to be still fighting fit and raring to go. More maiming and killing until...THE THREAD IS FROZEN!! The elves and the corsairs (as well as all those who joined in during the battle) can't believe it! Is this the work of Melkor? Luckily, El and TA fight this evil source of power and begin the fight again-trial only. It begins again. This time, on landÉ
Battle between Sharrash (who tried to steal the mithril) Den Lemmik, Griff Gamgee, Elle, Ally, Aurethil and Uruloki. It starts off with poor Den having to fight them by himself, Sharrash not helping because no matter what happens she/he always goes back to steal the mithril-not very life-like or proper. SHe/He also doesn't notice Elle standing there. (Elle wouldn't just let the mithril go.) Aurethil grabs the mithril when they are left unguarded and goes to hide them. Has now turned into an actual battle, Elle and Aurethil being the first to rise to the challenge. L_S goes to find the mithril, but Aurethil is already there (too late). Zul jadin (Istari) discovers a bag of 'valuable stuff' and begins to examine it. It is mithril, but sharrash steals the bags off him. Aurethil then begins to use her deadliest weapon...Britney Spears.
Some strange battle between Ally and Uruloki is going on. Ally wins when she finally tattoos a pretty red bow onto the pink bunny and writes-Uruloki, the bunny wunny loving troll next to it. She also tattoos luminous orange targets on him and a badger for good measure! But Uruloki wipes it off while it's still wet and then, it's gone. And he also seriously wounds Ally. But she is un-defeatable, and lives to tell another tale!
Elnarsil and The Abhorred battled, resulting in the death of both (decapitation for Elnarsil and being eaten for TA) The battle is long and strenuous, many times looking as if TA will win while, many other times looking as if El will win. For the first part, they use weapons, then they go to ninja stuff, then El pulls a tree out of the ground and begins fighting TA with that. TA uses Gul to send all of his weapons back to Mordor, bar his axe.
Thanks to Zul Jadin, everyone receives free commerative daggers, to remember the battle by.
