Fuin Elda

Fuin Elda was born Melvîriel in the last year of the Eldar days when the moon and sun had not yet risen in Doraith. She grew up at first oblivious of the war though as she aged, her father began to tell her tales of the ferocity of the Noldo and their pride. Melvîriel for her part soaked in these stories of grandeur in battle and much to her mothers distaste, was not a gentle maiden but more the son that her father never had. At a young age she learnt how to make a bow and shoot it, though it was not very powerful and could at best only do damage within a range of about ten feet. It was however the start. Her father though was constantly away though fighting battles in defense of their home.

It was during this time that Melvîriel's mother sought desperately to instill feminine ways into her daughter, and so she learnt singing and how to write poems and create art as well as basic healing. And her mother tried to turn her into a handmaiden for on of her friends as a test to see if she would suit well for a hand maiden to a Lady of higher standing. But it was not to be fore Melvîriel was not of mind to be a handmaiden. She was her father's daughter through and through. And her mothers attempts to make her into a properly lady failed.

One day upon her fathers return, she noticed something was terribly amiss her father spoke swiftly and softly to her mother and the family packed their belongings and fled from Doraith. To this day the reason is unknown to Fuin, though she suspects it had something to do with the vow Thingol made Beren swear as a bride price, for her father was wise and could tell such was folly.

And so they lived for a while wandering in the dangerous lands until they came to Nargothrond, where they stayed for only a short while before departing once more. And so she learnt no more of the final days of Morgoth from her fathers tales for he no longer had wish to fight. When they finally settled down again it was in the woodland realms of Oropher and here Melvîriel got plenty of practice with her bow, which was now no longer a toy that she had made as a child but a true weapon. And they lived in peace until the Army of Oropher marched in the last Alliance against Sauron By this time she was old enough to go on such a campaign but her father and her mother would not allow it and so she stayed back killing whatever evil creatures she could in the ever darkening woods.

When the battle was over however, her father was not among those that returned, and all that was brought back of him were his weapons save his long sword, for that was buried with him and his armor. It was her mother that was given these items, for it had been his dying wish that Melvîriel have at least his bow if not the three daggers he also carried, and his daughter was out on one of her many hunting trips that lasted many days. When she returned she found naught but an empty house, it's contents ransacked except for what was hers and her fathers and her mother was gone save for a hastily written note explaining that she could not take being alone without her father and that she was going to Valinor.

It was at this time that Melvîriel cast aside her given name and took upon the name Fuin, for that was how she felt and has since that day. She took her fathers weapons and left her home in Mirkwood with very little and headed into the wilds. She stayed there for some time taking her vengeances out upon dark creatures that came within her sight yet the hatred and anger she felt dwindled to sorrow and it was at this time that she made her way to the North Western Lands and Imladris where she has since resided. At first she did nothing, speaking to few and doing less but as time wore the emotional wounds healed and she became more like Melvîriel of days long past, yet this Melvîriel was no longer her name. She had become Fuin.
