Laivindil

The First Age
My tale begins in the early days, when the Noldorin Elves still lived in peace in the blessed realm of Valinor. I was just a small child when the main host of the Noldor followed Lord Fëanor into exile. Although small and unable to bear arms, me and my mother saw the slaying at Alqualondë. We watched our kinsmen enter the city and saw them slay and burn and be slain in the end… My father looked powerful in his shiny armor, with his massive sword in his hands. With great eyes I watched him enter the city. That was the last time I saw him… My mother ran after him into the city and disappeared into the smoke. My aunt took me up and carried me away. Picked up by Lord Maedhros and his host, we set out to find the old lands. There is not much that I remember from that journey, but I do remember one important thing. My uncle managed to find me and my aunt and he brought terrible news. He had watched my father die at his side and he saw my mother run away in tears.. When my aunt and uncle died on this journey, I was taken care of by the most unlikely person. Lord Maedhros himself picked me up from the frozen lap of my kinsman. I grew up in the Marshes of Maedhros north of Himring as the foster son of lord Maedhros. I never knew why he wanted me as his foster son, but I am thankful he did. Maltahón he named me, heart of gold. When I was old enough to wield weapons, I often set out with a hunting party to keep the marshes free of the ever-swarming orcs. I was no great fighter, but it gave me some good training with my short sword and simple bow. At first the other elves had to protect me, but in time I improved my skills and even managed to stay unharmed when I was outnumbered three to one. One day my "father" Maedhros and I went to join a patrol in the marshes. After a few days we were ambushed by a band of orcs. With no one to come to our aid, my father and I fought ourselves a way to the patrolling elves. We barely managed to reach them. My father saw courage in me that day and he gave me a sword worthy of my developed skills. He named it Úricirissë, SolarSlash, and he told me that it was made by his own father, Fëanor. The blade contained Silima, the material of which he later made the Silmarils. He captured the power of a ray of sunlight in it. This is why my sword would be so feared by orcs. The sword was an heirloom of his house, and he named me his heir, making me the heir of Fëanor should his sons die. I spend most of my time after that by traveling to Doriath as messenger from Himring. Until one day I was called back by my father to fight. In the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, I fought at my fathers' side. When I saw the great power of Glaurung the dragon, I was immediately impassioned by dragons. I swore that day that I would tame a dragon, even if I would die in the attempt. I decided to stay at home when my father left for Sirion. When the news of yet another slaying of elves by their own kin reached me, I named my father insane and took back my own name. After the War of Wrath I mourned for the death of my second father and swore to eliminate all evil. Therefore I decided to stay in Middle Earth and not return to Valinor like many did.

The Second Age
With most of the elves gone, I wandered through deserted Beleriand. At last I found some more elves and they told me of the court of Ereinion Gil-Galad, high king of the elves in Middle Earth. I stayed with them for many years. After 700 years, Lady Galadriel and Lord Celeborn founded Eregion. I went to live with them, for I had seen enough of Gil-Galad's court after living there many centuries. In Eregion I learned much from the dwarves of Moria, and for that I respect Dwarves up to today. When the lady Galadriel deserted Eregion, I stayed there under the command of Celeborn. I fought under his banner against the invading forces of Sauron, but when our army scattered I traveled with Lord Elrond to the newly founded Imladris. I stayed there when Imladris was laid under siege, but when I heard of the lands of Lórien, after the very first Council, I went there. From the Silvan and Nandorin elves that lived there, I learned a lot of the Lore of nature. They called the land they lived in Lórinand, which would later be named Lothlórien. I helped in the defense of their borders and they taught me all about the animals and plants they knew. When the elves went to war in the Battle of the Last Alliance, I fought under the banner of the sindarin Prince Amdír. Because of my experience and better equipment, I managed to survive while many of my Nandorin and Silvan friend perished. I returned to Lórien with lord Amroth, son of Amdír.

The Third age and later
When Galadriel and Celeborn came to Lórien together, I learned much from both. I spoke often with the lady Galadriel, and she taught me much of the ancient Noldorin, of which she was one. She told me things I had never known, although I had been there. I was too young to understand what had happened in Valinor, but thanks to Galadriels' teaching, I know a lot more of my own kin. When Galadriel and Celeborn went away to Imladris, I traveled with them. But I was glad when we finally returned to the woods of Lórien in the year 1980 of the Third Age. I spend most of my time taking care of the many valuable trees and plants, when I was not protecting the borders. But all changed on one day. I was talking with Galadriel about my parents and she told me that the body of my mother was never found. The few elves that had been in the Halls of Mandos, and returned from them, never saw my mother there either.. It hit me like walking against a tree… my mother could still live! I decided not to wait any longer and set out to find my mother. I received a parting gift from the elves of Lórien. It was a mighty Mallornwood bow. They named it Qualmësúrë, which means "deathwind." Although I searched for many years, I found no trace of my mother, but I did find a hidden realm, deep in the woods, just west of the Ered Lindon. It was inhabited by some Laiquendi, under the command of their lady, Suzandúnë. I lived there for many years in peace besides Herinya Lókedhel, but my heart grew restless again. When I heard the One Ring was found again, I traveled to Rivendell in haste, just in time to visit the Council of Elrond. After the fellowship set out, I spend my time in the rich libraries of Elrond, but found no trace of my mother there either. I decided to stay in Rivendell and I joined in the Elven Army. When I was adopted by Silrána Merlomë, and had a family again, my heart had felt joy for the first time in many years. I reckon and love her as my true mother, and I will do anything to keep her safe. My "sister" Laebeth made my family complete. I will never stop searching for my real mother, but until the day we find each other, I can be found at the side of my new family.
