Lyceus/Laurefin
Lyk
Lyceus is an alias to Laurefin, an elf who lives near Rivendell with his wife Jade. He has the looks of his mother and the character of his father. He is tall, his hair is golden yellow and his eyes are pale blue. He was born in the first age in the halls of Nargothrond. His mother was called Mirwithwen and was related to Finarfin. Her hair was yellow as the Sun and her eyes were blue as the Sea, for Lyceus’ grandfather was a Teleri who followed the host of the Noldor when marching Eastward. Lyceus’ father was dark and tall as the Noldor, and often away. For he was a captain of the guard of Orodreth, Finarfin’s son. Glinwath he was called. When Finrod Felagund died, Glinwath left Nargothrond and went to a mission on the other side of the Narog, and never came back. Five months after he left Lyceus was born. He was the only child of Glinwath and Mirwithwen. When he was 31 years his mother went away to seek his father. From that moment on he was raised by Carandae, who as he thought was his father’s sister, but she somehow would not say it.
Laurefin first came into the halls of Orodreth at the age of 89 and from the moment he saw him, he loved Orodreth. He became an artist and made lots of drawings of the country and he was the one to make the portrait of Orodreth in the wall of Finarfin’s House. When Glaurung came he took his gear and went away on his own and travelled to the Lands of the Seven Rivers. He dwelt there for a while with a group of green-elves. He told them stories and drew them. But he was eager to find out what Land was behind the mountains, and he left the green-elves. Mithlome, one of the green-elves who had become his friend went with him. They journeyed long and stayed for over 600 years in the lands near the western shore of the river Lhun.
Elves found them sleeping when they marched East, escaping the wars of Beleriand. With them he spent most of his years without problems. Finally they reached the western sides of the Misty Mountains and there he lived long years until he found his love, Jade. Together they lived and Jade bore him three children, Telepavariel, Immanonwen and his son Aduchil.
