Rilómë

Rilómë was born quite some time before the destruction of the Two Trees and is counted as a Lindar of the Teleri. She was the firstborn of Lindórië and Amatírë and had a little brother called Elerossë. At her Essecarmë she was called Hallaereg (Huge holy tree). Her parents left with the Noldor to Arda, but she and her little brother Elerossë (Starfoam) stayed behind. They did not wish to acompany the elves that killed their own kin. Her parents weren't in the first kin slaying, but they still went along with Fëanor and his sons. Ril's mother Lindórië (She that arises in beauty) gave her a necklace when she left named Gonhorn (treestone). Elerossë got a bracelet with the words estel, ófelmë a persanië (hope, compassion and love) carved in it. Her father Amatírë (Honour) spoke a linnod to use while the ship left the shore and his words were carried to us through the fog above the waves:

Those that hunt won't leave before the last is slain. Even though sometimes their hunt might be in vain. The wanderer will see many places, because she can't stay long. But her home will be long yet not gone. In her heart her treasure lies, not easily covered up, never by lies. His hands that heal, will give them joy. When of their wounds speak toil. He will rest where the waves bring him and leave when all is done. Leaving still behind, the wandering one.

Ril travelled to Middle Earth late with her brother to seek out their parents who had travelled there after the Kinslayings. Comming to shore at Mithlond, Ril and her brother stayed in the houses of Cirdan. When they reached Mithlond they remained there for many years. And soon Cirdan led them trough the Essecilmë. Her brother found the name Cuiviërimbor (hands of life) and Rilómë found the name Arfaroth (High hunter), this with help of the linnod her father spoke before he left Though her little brother learned the art of healing, Ril setted her mind to fighting. After staying in Mithlond for some time under the guidance of Cirdan the news reached them of the possible whereabouts of her parents. Travelling through the lands she found through the lady Galadriel that they were killed. Anger took over her and she travelled through the mountains to hunt the orcs in their caves. When the news came of the upcomming war of the Last Alliance, Ril travelled back to Mithlond to stand by the lords Cirdan and Gil-Galad.

Not long after the Last Alliance and the temporary destruction of the Enemy, Ril made her way back to Lothlorien. There the Lady Galadriel sent her on to Mirkwood to find an Elf named Elorn to revenge her parents by slaying the orcs responsable. Elorn and Ril did as they were told and even more. They became best of friends and travelled wiping out many orcish settlements. They soon became known by the orcs and were feared by them aswell as by men. Elorn always had much information about the whereabouts of orcs. And that's when Ril's suspicion rose. Galadriel also warned her about Elorn, but she did not heed her words. Because Elorn was her best friend and she trusted her with her life. But Ril was afraid Galadriel would be right so she urged her to leave to Valinor with her little brother. But she did not listen. Then at their stay in Lorien, they helped to defend it against a group of orcs. Elorn and Ril got seperated and when Ril slayed the last orc she got stabbed in the back. Ril thought she had missed one of the orcs and quickly slashed behind her with her eket. The cry that followed was very familiar. And after Ril fell to the ground she turned to see who had stabbed her. The body of Elorn lay dead as Ril had sliced her throath. Galadriel took Ril in to heal her wounds and broken heart. That's when she changed her name into Rilómë (Glittering Twilight). This way she tried to leave the past behind her.

Ril never set foot in Mirkwood again, because Thranduil was enraged by the death of his niece. When news reached him, that it was Rilómë that killed his niece he was still grieving over her. And without thought he send his people to kill her. Galadriel however found out about this and send me back to Mithlond, well out of reach of his people. She then summoned him to confer with her and told him the whole story. And even though he chose not to believe her, he called back his people. But with that he let me know, that if ever she would set foot in Mirkwood again he would have her killed anyway. Ril's hair wich she always had cut short, was under a spell by Galadriel. She told Ril she would not grow long hair untill her heart would be healed and that of the lord Thranduil.

Ril buried Elorn's gear under a tree in Lorien and said goodbye to her. Soon after this her brother left to Valinor. She came to say goodbye and as they were carried away from me Ril sang to her brother who was sad to leave me behind. Even though he knew this would happen, just as their father foretold. Sadned by his leaving Ril wandered through Endor alone. She didn't dare to stay anywhere long, afraid people would find out she was once Arfaroth. When she dwelled in Imladris Ril decided to join the army. That way she would have a homestead and she would travel around Endor aswell. Also in the army she found a new family...and she found love for a long time since the death of her parents.
