Opening the Pennais in-Edhil Imladris, you begin to read the tale of...

Thali

An age after Gondolin fell, an elf child was born. Her parents' names to this day are not known, but they called their child Thali, meaning 'strong, willful'

The elves Thali was born to were wanderers, dwelling at the time on the outskirts of Imladris. Soon after Thali was two years of age however, her parents began to tire of life in Middle Earth. They longed for the shores across the Sea. Not wishing to take their young child from the world she had so recently come into, they left her with a trusted friend, (Beliowen) who was dwelling in the Valley of Imladris with two daughters of her own. Knowing that their daughter would be well taken care of, Thali's parents went over Sea, never to return.

50 years later....
Thali in fifty years time had grown into a beautiful elf maiden. She had chestnut colored hair that fell upon her back like a waterfall and stunning blue eyes. Thali had always been content living in the Valley of Rivendell, but now, the young elf maiden was experiencing an odd sensation. 'it's as if something was missing' she once said to her elder sister Mithrilleil.

Rilli was concerned about her younger sister. Being fairly close to Thali, she could almost feel the pain her sister was experiencing. Thali, seeing that she had worried Rilli, never mentioned it again.

Even when Thali no longer felt the strange tugging at her heart, she often wondered what had made it come about. Had the Sea been calling her?
