Library of Imladris
The Private Archives

The private archives of Lord Elrond were contained in a square room of off-white
marble about four meters long on each side. The door was thick, and made of
intricately carved wood, stained a dark brown. On the opposite wall, there was
an arched window shedding brilliant white light across the room. In the center
of the room was a rectangular wooden table that was about one and one half by
one half meters. On it were stacked several large leather bound volumes and
scrolls. Around the room were several shelves of carved wood also piled with
books and scrolls that are still in almost new condition, despite that they are
up to five millennia old. To the right of the main door, was a second door, much
like the first, but leading to a small office. In contrast to the first room,
the office was made entirely of white wood. The ceiling arched in a cone shape,
with intricate carvings all the way up. There were open-air, arched, wooden windows
on the three sides that did not face the first room, each covered with a translucent,
white, silk drape. A desk of the same white wood that the room was made of sat to one
side with a few books and scrolls neatly arranged on it. In front of the desk was an
equally magnificent chair, with the patterns gold-leafed onto it. Outside of the
windows is a view of the waterfall and pine forests. Birds can be heard singing,
and water can be heard rushing over the rocks. The soothing smell of the pine trees
lingers in the air, and one can almost picture Lord Elrond himself sitting at the desk
studying one manuscript or another.
