Q: You mentioned earlier that one of your parts was to be a Rohirrim leading a horse. Did this shot get into the final cut of The Two Towers? If so, then where abouts are you? What other places can we see you in the movies that you have not mentioned in the other threads?

A: Yes , I don’t think you can see me , plus I was wearing a big beard , well there are a few places , but its so hard to see , I know I’m there somewhere in some scenes , but cant tell.

Q Has anyone asked you who your favourite ME character is ... besides Rumil yet?

A: Ummm...no I don’t think so anyone has asked that ; I have always been a big fan of ’Gandalf", I was always either and elf or wizard when I roll-played in my younger years, ’Mithrandir’ , has been my online name since I first started to use the internet , I still use some places, but I’m slowly switching to ’Rumil’ ....he he he

Q: Did the weather pose any major problems when filming?....how much was added in later with special effects? (Helms Deep)

A: Yes , there were a few weather problems , like the day I went to work at helms deep (uruk-hai), got into costume , and just waited , it was pouring with rain, 3 hours later we got told to get out of costume and go home ....lol , and there was also a bit of trouble with a heavy dumping of snow one night , when they were on location at Mt. Ruapehu. Has for added in special effects....... a lot of the firing of arrows has digitally added arrows , which means when we were performing on the blue screen we would have to pretend we were pulling out arrows , notching them , aiming and firing them , which could be hard when 12-20 of us had to do it in unison

Q : Do you get any special privlages for when RotK is released? I mean, do you get to be at one of the first screenings or do you have to wait until the public can see it?

A: LOL....no, no special privileges for me , just this and my card,........ my brother does get to go to the cast & crew premier’s though ... lucky him !

Q : Did you ever get really frustrated or were you just happy to be a part of it all?

A: Ummmm.... no not really , I only got frustrated with other extras who were not taking it seriously, not doing their best and just stuffing around .

Q : the morale of the cast and crew was very good. Did you find this was true? That most people stayed in the spirit of things and really cared about the project?

A: Yes, well I’m sure you have heard all the main cast rave about us down here. Everybody who worked on ’LOTR’ knew it was special and worked hard , we are a down to earth friendly country down here and I think the cast really enjoyed that .

Q: What kind of music do you like? Do you play any instrument? & what was the most recent film you saw that got you really excited?

A: I like all sorts of music , what ever sounds good ....lol , I am a big fan of ’Beck’ though , and any band ’Dave Groll’ is involved with , I don’t play an instrument , I use to play the violin when I was 8 , ......hmmm, best film I’ve seen lately , I guess it would have to be ’TTT’

Q : what books do you like to read, other than Tolkien ones?

A: Well I love fantasy, I’m a big fan of ’David Gemmell", and I love ’Robert Jordans’ ’Wheel of time series’

Q: Who did the Tengwar tatoo on your arm?

A: The wonderful gentleman who did the tattoo was ’Roger’, from Rogers tattoo’s (Cuba st, Wellington, New Zealand)

Q - I bet you are upset you weren’t a dwarf...did you ever consider cutting your legs off at the knee to qualify for a job as a dwarf actor?

A: Hmmm....not really, I’m happy as an elf. (even if I did cut my legs off , I would still have to eat like a hobbit to have the correct girth of a Dwarf......he he he).....

Q: do you like the Plaza, and are you planning to stay even when this session is over?

A: I think the plaza is great !! .....and I think I’m most certainly sticking around , I think permission has been granted , I’ve been having a look around today , I didn’t realise I get paid !!....woo hoo, want to buy a good bow and some armour !! ...... and I really want to know how I join the kingdom of the elves ?? .... I also took the first test ....I got 9/10 .....sorry ....... he he he

Q: I guess I must ask if you plan on going to any school for theatre, film, acting, etc?

A: And, if so, where would you go? Have you ever been to the US? Where? Where would you most like to travel to? Ok , Well I have thought about the pros & cons about going to Drama school , but the con’s out-do the pro’s, I want to work behind the camera , not to sure yet , but assistant directing I think is it , film school has also been thought about , but I’m in the same position a person who has just graduated film school , easier to work you way up :),.......no, I have never been to the US , and I think right now I would like to travel home to my birth country ’Denmark’, where I haven’t been for 20 years.

Q: *tries to think of a suitably obscure question*Rumil...I was in Braveheart, and the first thing people ask is...did you meet Mel Gibson? (the answer....no!) What is your pet hate question...and how clever do people think they are when they ask you it?

A: LOL..... ummm , I don’t think I have one of those questions , ask me in a week ....LOL

A: During the lotr filming was there anyone who you really bonded with like you became really good friends? It could be extra, makeup artist, anyone. and well even though tis been said already. Well , yes I certainly did , the thing is , having my brother there and the two of us having different sounding names (Scandinavian), people got to know us , well, and we are both happy friendly people , so I guess people like us , we both also had friends (outside of work ) who also worked on the films , we even caught up with an old friend we use to play with when we were little kids . he (friend) was always into models and making stuff (lol) , he moved to Australia when I was about 12 yr , then lo and behold , he’s working on ’lotr’ as one of the main prosthetics makers / make-up artist !! (he was also working on ’the matrix’...... also like all the main cast say , the whole crew was like a rather large family , we worked together and partied together

Q : You said that you read Robert Jordan’s WoT series (rather good). I was wondering if you’d happened to read any of Raymond Feist or Anne McCaffrey’s works?

A: No, I haven’t yet , I have a close friend who just raves about them , and tells me I HAVE to read them....he he

Q: Jorn, do you think you will move to the United States to further your acting career?

A: No, I cant see my acting going any further than ’Rumil’

Q: Jorn, who of the cast members (not PJ or the script writers) had the most knowledge of Tolkien’s works? (Excluding yourself), Why is it that you go to bed at dawn and not, well... at night? .....Also, when did you start reading the LotR series/how long have you liked it? And would you classify yourself as a "fanatic?"

A: LOL......Well most certainly Christopher Lee, he knew the books VERY well he’s been reading ’LOTR’ every year the most of his life ..... lol, I’m a night owl , that’s why I go to bed late (early) ...... I started to read ’ the hobbit ’ when I was about 12 , then ’LOTR’ ..... no, I’m not quite a fanatic , sorry

Q: Hey, Jorn, I was reading all of the posts and i came across the ones where eople asked you if they could marry you. this isn’t as stupid as it sounds. Just in case you didn’t know, here in the Plaza, you can actually get married to people in the weddings forum. Da dadada, da dada da! Oh and I have a question. Can you elaborate on how you first started acting. I am considering becoming an actress and want to know how to start.

A: LOL.....I will marry the first person who gives me a Lorien bow ....he he he ..... Ii have no idea how I first started acting ,apart from a few school plays and a commercial when I was 17-18 (just a guy somewhere in the back of a myriad of people) , other wise my first big job was my first day on the ’LOTR’ set back in Jan. 2000 .

A:No, apart from ’Hello, how are you today", I had nothing to do with him ......sorry, cant help you

A:LOL....the elves have nothing to worry about , I am an elf ....... who happens to like riding with the Rohan in secret .....he he he .....and yes , I love the new elf icons !

Q: Jørn- I have yet another question *grin*. You mentioned you like reading fantasy books. Have you read any of the Discworld Series by Terry Pratchett?

A:No, I haven’t, My roommate has all his books, he’s short five I think ....lol ,.....but I’m told they are very good

Q: I’ve a couple of questions ^_^ What is your favourite book from the WoT series, and have you read the latest, Crossroads of Twilight? =) And who’d you prefer, Galadriel, or Egwene al’Vere (from WoT)?

A:Hmmm,....my fav book would have to be a tie between book 1 and book 3 , no i haven’t read the latest yet ....... and I would have to go with Egwene .....he he he .

Q : If you could have any role in any film ever made, what would it be, and why?

A:LOL......well you said it, ’any’ role will do !!!

Q : In a lot of the footage put on DVDs and such, there are instances of the elves calling the men stinky... So my question is: In your opinion, who was the smelliest member of the cast? Even if it’s a nameless extra... did anyone really stink? (ahhhh I couldnt resist!

A:Well, the main cast always smelled like roses .....he he he ......but here is a funny story. One day (night) on set there was mainly ’uruk-hai’ on set , and one guy had tried to go to the toilet while wearing half his costume , and......... well...... basically poo got everywhere and he left early ...LOL ( I heard it wasn’t fun for the costume people who had to help him out of it)

Q : Jorn, What is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

A: What do you mean? An African or European swallow?

Q : Did you eventually hate to have those foam ears pasted onto your own (like Leonard Nimoy was experiencing when he was playing Spock in the Star Trek TV series)? Now long did thsoe ears last? i.e. - how many pairs of ears per day did you use up?

A: Ummm...I didn’t really wear the ears that much , when elves were on , only the ones close to the camera would be the ones to wear the ears.......... because it would take about 90 min to get them on and perfect . One pair would last the whole day as they were glued in place .

Q : Have you ever looked yourself up on the internet?

A: Ummm....no, what do you mean??....search engine?

Q : What was your most embarrassing moment ever? (On the Lord of the Rings set or off...) Thankies!

A: I dont have one
But later Jorn remembered one: Well, I do have a bit of an embarrassing moment from the set , ......I was a ’Rohan’ refugee that day and we were filming a scene just inside the gate of the first wall , and during action I was moving through the people towards ’the action’ (main cast Viggo and Bernard), anyway,.....a 3rd ad (assistant director) , told me to move up from my starting point (my #1 or 1st position), anyway action was called , and I started to walk , and I got closer than I had done in other takes , .....cut was called, so I stop ,next thing I know , from outside the gate comes a voice ’whos, that , why did you stop there ??’ , I start freaking and I look around , right behind me is a cart and lying under that was a camera and a camera man , who I didn’t know was there , I had stopped right in front of him ....... and Peter comes walking around the corner , I freeze , he looks right at me and asks the same question ??..... I swallow, and explain (very quickly) , that the 3rd ad changed my # 1 ...... Peter (who’s already in deep thought about something else) , just say , ’ok , just go back to you first position’ .....and I do , ......and that’s the only time P.J. has ever spoken to me .(apart from a smile and a hello every now and then ), ....... and that was embarrassing to me even though it was not my fault .

1) Which is your fav. part of NZ?
2)You mentioned that you were in a music video - which one would that be? How was that experience?
3)I think it’s so cool that you’re doing the job you lurve! Could you remember when was the exact moment when you realised that filmmaking was your true calling?

A: 1- Wellington , where I live and where i grew up , Wairarapa , which is about an hours drive from here , my parents still live there :)
2 - I wasn’t in the music video , I worked in production and on set , it was for a group called ’Rhombus’ , it was 6 days work for me , 3 of those (in a row) were 18 hr days and I did it all for free , good experience !
3 - yes , the exact moment was when I was called onto set on my first night ever on ’lotr’ at helms deep , dressed like an ’fighting elf’ and walking up to the ’Helms Deep’ wall and seeing all the splendour ......LOL....... AWESOME!!!

Q: How well did you knew ( and probably still know ) you own character? Only that "Rumil" was one of the border-guards of Lorien encountered by the FoTR, or did you specialised in the past of Lorien and everything?

A: Well , I knew who Rumil was from the book, but ......to be honest , when we were filming my scenes I didn’t know I was ’Rumil’, but I had worked it out that I must be one of the brothers as I knew that part of the book , and I know it was a feature because it was a cast role ...... but I just wasn’t told . so it was a pleasant surprise when I found out...... actually I found out from a phone call from my brother at 1 am in the morning , .......’Dude , you have you OWN card !!! ’........ and that was when all the pieces came together .....he he , and so here I am .......and I hope that doesn’t take anything away for you all

Q : Do you think Rumil would have accompanied Haldir to Helm’s Deep and watch him die, or even die with him?

A: No, I don’t . That was Haldir’s choice , I think Rumil would have stayed behind to guard the golden wood until the last elf had left , just in case the attempt to hold ’Helms Deep’ failed. (???)

Q : When you played an Urk-hai, were you killed, and if so how?

A: No, I wasn’t killed , played dead a few times , fell asleep one time too ...LOL

Q: Could you ask your brother which were the major scenes where he played Legolas? Any special ones? Were you ever on set together - or were you most often in different locations"?

A: No , I don’t think I’m allowed to tell you where he is Legolas....there are a few scenes where he is and I can tell its him , and my brother and I were on set together a lot !!

Q: Jorn, have you seen any Monty Python movies, or are you just totally lost with our babbling? If you have seen more than one, which is your favorite?

A: Yes, I like python films :) , I don’t have a fav, they are all good.

Q : Now this has probably been anmswerd before, I just don’t have time to read back through four hundred + posts, but, besides Rumil and the Uruk-Hai what other parts did you play in the films? Where you in the prologue?(one of the Elven warriors sort of looks like you to me, that is why I’m asking)

A: LOTS of parts, I have answered it, look through old posts , ( you don’t have time to look through old posts ??....well I don’t have time to answer questions twice !) ....... I am in the prologue (see past posts) , but if you think you see me , it will be my brother , he is standing right next to ’Elrond’

Q: Sorry for wasting your time, but this is a question I am sure you have not yet answered, what was the last alliance elven armour made of? I am attempting to make it and I would like to keep it as accurate as possible, I have already made one from mail and leather but I’m not sure if that is correct.

A: Ummmm....Plastic LOL ...... well I sure hope you guys didn’t think we all ran around in real armour ...... only featured people and the main cast got to wear the real stuff , I got to wear the real Helms Deep Fighting Elf armour , .....that was heavy and stabbed me in all the wrong places ...LOL

Q: Yup...do you understand it if I write in Norwegian to you?

A: Danish - Dansk , but im sure i could read norwegian .

Q: My question; How many other languages do you speak?

A: Just English and Danish , but when I was a little kid growing up in Denmark I use to watch a lot of German TV, and from that I learnt German. But because it was not formally taught to me , when I learnt English I lost the German . I’m told its still there somewhere deep in my mind and all I need is a little coaching to get it back...he he

Q : What was PJ like as a director, in your experience of him? Was he like "put your arm there, your head to one side at an angle of 4 degrees and this foot 2cm in front of the other" or did he let you interpret the character yourself?

A: He was very good , we would be told what to do , and if we didn’t do it right he would come and show it himself , and do it well . I think with the main cast he was very good at explaining what he wanted, and again wouldn’t hesitate in showing them what he wanted in character, he’s a very good actor himself .

Q : Did you play a Nazgul? If you were, then how was it to play one of them. They were realy cool even if you could see their faces sometimes.

A: And how was it to play an Elf at Helm´s Deep. And What do you think of the idea of having Elves there when they wern´t in the movie. And what do you think about letting Haldir and all the other elves die at the Battle. No, I was not Nazgul, they were all very tall. It was great to be an elf at Helms Deep. Well, its not true to the book having the elves and Haldir there, but it was needed for the film I think ........ made it a little more interesting .

Q : So, RUMIL, are we gonna see you on the third part of movie, the return of the king?

A: Yes , probably , but not as ’Rumil’

Q : I know you said that you’re a cancer, but when’s your birthday exactly? And where can I send presents? *grins*

Q : Jorn - which part did you like best? Rumil?

A: Yes, well it is now that I‘m getting all this attention ...he he he he he , but otherwise it would be Helms Deep Fighting Elf ......because , ummm , I felt like a real warrior elf

Q : Jorn, when you were at Helm Deep as a fighting elf, did you mostly use a sword or bow and arrow?

A: LOL.....ummmm, it was mostly bow (a lot on a blue/green screen in a studio), some sword , but mostly all sword play was performed by the stuntmen .
