Oh, the memories and the amazing people in them.

A few days ago, I received a poke from someone I hadn't spoken to in a goodly long time. That would be Wedgers. Originally, Wizard Gandalf.
Now, you may not remember Wedgers, but when yours truly first made her way over to isengard (which we called the White Council - then) Wedgers had just become ruler.
Now initially, I was extremely wary of him because, well... as a newbie, Lanthy believed that people were the faces they wore. And since Wedgie (yes, he really goes and went by Wedgie, not that I knew what that meant for the longest time) wore the face of Saruman... well you can guess what I thought of him at first. I went from thinking that he was a creepy old man with control and powermongering issues to thinking he was completely and absolutely bonkers (as befit the person in honour of whom the "Wedgie Dance" and the "Wedgieccino" were created). And then of course, I simply realised that everyone was bonkers, myself included, so Wedgers was probably worth getting introduced to. I was right... and the rest is Isengard history.
But anyway, Wedgie had been gone from the plaza for a good long time... and as such, he had been MISSED for a good long time. And hearing from him made me a bit melancholic_ remembering so many friendly faces that I really do miss. So I thought it would not be too presumptuous if I took the time today to write about some awesome plazanites; I could probably gush on for hours about how high my opinion is of Pip Reoneya, of Brandybuck, and of Istarendil- three ex-admins that I would bow down to and pounce with glee any day of the week. I could probably tell you again and again how much I miss Megs, who was my first co-ruler; I was SO furious to hear that she was resigning, that I folded my arms in anger and refused to unfold them until well after she was gone, and the missing got to be too much.
But this isn't a post about the obvious awesomeness. It's not about those people that everybody thinks of when they think about the plaza. Just really good people that I have always had enormous esteem and admiration for_ and who, in my opinion, exemplify a number of virtues.
The absolute top of my list is an erstwhile Ent known as Region. Most people still remember him, because he's made many mini-comebacks over the years. Quite aside from being absolutely adorable in person, Region was also always a person who did not dissemble, did not bother self-agrandizement, did not care about his glory. Once upon a time, I asked him in chat: which one of you and X is most suited to being ruler of Fangorn alongside me? And he replied to me: the other guy is more knowledgeable than myself. That is some honesty_ I am not sure if I would manage it for myself.
Elsewhere on my list, but equally high, is the wonderful Starbreeze. Now, Starbreeze has not gone by Starbreeze for a long, long time. These days, she is known as Fair Enough. Or, well, Fairy Nuff. Breezy is one of those people who will often get distracted (much to my frustration) but will always stalwartly come back. In the 10 years of our acquaintance, her personality hasn't changed: she is still kind and compassionate, energetic and interested in just about everything. And I do mean everything.
Now, there are many names that could fit onto this list, but I'm trying to keep it down to 3 (this because I have a plane to catch in less than 2 hours, and the husband is shouting "vamoose"). So, while a lot of names are worthy of being listed here, the third person I'd personally want to mention is wiebke. Wiebke needs no introduction_ she is here today as she was here last year. But wiebke represents something indicible: the task-oriented, no-nonsense, kind-and-driven person who simply grows into this site, and into the passtime of LOTR. The day she (and it really was she) used her not inconsiderable expertise to track the full name of halfir's living relatives so I could give them a ring is the day she impressed me beyond belief. Not, of course, that I needed convincing she was awesome_ I could see that from the get-go.
What about you? Any names of awesome people you can/would like to honour?
