I have an interesting site here, which doesn't make sense of course
But it's fun to try it out sometime.
My hobbit name would be Berilac Grubb of Little Delving.
And my elvish name: Amras Ar-Feiniel.
Also fun to try out is: http://www.ageofthering.com/nametranslator/index.php
Unfortunately, I can't find anywhere what Fehebor means. I did think of a surname and it was a complete word! My ME name is Fehebor Kano and Kano appeared to mean 'commander'.
-bor means 'endure' so now only to find out what 'Fehe-' could possibly be.

ibotony, I've deleted your duplicate posts here and in other threads. I left the one where current discussion of your translations is ongoing, in >this thread<, as well as you tattoo request. Before you post, please read the first post of a thread in order to find out whether it's the appropriate place for your request, and once you have posted a request please don't re-post it somewhere else. If you really aren't sure about where your post should go, you can always ask

Sorry guys I read the rules and then deleted the inappropriate posts.I have a question,

ibotony, the deleted posts are probably part of why your point total isn't increasing--but for a post to count for points it also has to be at least 200 characters, so maybe that's part of it too. (And just to be clear, we generally like 200 characters of substance, not fluff just to get points
). The best way to earn points is to join in on discussions here on the Plaza--any Lore forum as well as Kingdom threads grant points. If you have other questions just ask

sorry for the double post... but i had another question
i was looking for the name "Paloma" in quenya, Paloma is the Spanish meaning for Dove, but actually Dove is referred to the animal, so I don't really know if Paloma, as a name, is "Cucua" (as it appears in the english-quenya dictionary) for Dove... if someone can help me out with this one, i would be really grateful! thanks a lot! |

Good Morning to all who love Tolkien as much as I do. My name Hallas means "Frost" and was translated by our Queen Idrissa of Gondor. Most of the Appendixes should have several lists of Elven, Numenorean, aka Arnorian or Gondorian names, Dwarf names and the translations for each and every name.

My name Yerathiel is the Elvish translation of the name Leah, meaning "weary". My first name (not the name I go by) is Sarah, which is my mom's name. I really dislike it because I know 12 Sarahs and people get my mom and I confused (it's a beautiful name, don't get me wrong... it's just not for me). Her Middle name is Leigh, so when I turn 18 I'm planning on changing my first name in honor of her to Leah (Leigh+Sarah), making my name Leah Grace. She approves of the name as well, she had actually wanted to name me that. :) Also, I've been going through a very hard time in my life, and "weary" is an apt discription of how I feel sometimes.

Fëanor II, I don't mean to sound patronizing, but I know of no word fë — the breakup is actually fëa and the element -nor, with it being a name consisting of mixed Quenya and Sindarin. The original Quenya was Fëanáro with fëa for "spirit" (roughly) and nár for "fire" (cognate Sindarin naur, found as -nor here) — if I recall, the -o is either a masculine ending or a genitive to mark "of fire," but I can't remember which. Tolkien gives the etymology as phaya-nāro on p. 39 of Parma Eldalamberon 17, but one should note that The Shibboleth of Fëanor in HoME12 states "Fëanor is the form nearly always used in histories and legends, but is at it stands only half Sindarized: the genuine Sindarin form is Faenor; the form Fëanor [...] probably arose through scribal confusion, especially in documents written in Quenya, in which ea was frequent but ae did not normally occur." The word anor is actually "Sun" in Sindarin.

Lambiher
lambi = pl. of Lambe "tongue", though not the physical appendage, that would be lamba. its essentially "language" her = sfx of Heru "lord" Lambiher = "Tongues-lord" using the quenya penchant for reversal, translates to "Lord of Tongues" or "Lord of Languages" There is technically already a word for this..."Lambengolmo" which means "Loremaster of Language"...but it was taken, lol.
