Tattoo requests: Tengwar Transcriptions.

Basic Info About Requests:

-This is the ONLY tattoo thread. We will check it regularly and answer it. If you open a new thread, your request is likely to be missed or delayed.

-As we work on requests, we give priority to members who have 100 points and 40 posts, and don't just spam to get those numbers (we do notice that). This is so that we can give priority to people making meaningful contributions to the site, but not have our time so swamped by people who post only once to make their request that we can't give the time we need to the forum. We may do requests for people who do not meet these requirements, but it's entirely at the discretion of the individual transliterators, and we generally want to see some signs that you're giving something back to the site.

-Completed requests will be posted in a separate thread: Completed Tattoo Requests

-There are Elvish languages (more than one) and there is Elvish writing (which can be used to write English or other languages). These are very different things (see below).

-The main languages are Sindarin and Quenya, people at the translation desk (or, it seems of late, in other threads) can have a go at translating phrases into these languages, but this is entirely at their convenience (remember, they're doing it for fun) and ability

-If you want your name actually translated into an Elvish language, you will first have to figure out what the meaning of your name is and then have those words translated (there are websites to help with this- see the FAQ)

-The main writing system (Elvish 'alphabet') is Tengwar, which can easily be used to write someone's name or a phrase without 'translating' it into another language (this would be much like writing out an English word in runes).

-Reading the Languages FAQ is a very good thing to do

*Give the phrase as you want it transliterated. If you want it in an Elvish language (there are more than one) then go to The Translation Desk and get it translated. We can do words/phrases in English, Sindarin, and Quenya for sure, and some of us are happy to try other languages as well.

**Do NOT put 'Elvish', 'Quenya', 'Sindarin', or 'English' here. If you don't care about the details, just put 'Tengwar', otherwise feel free to request a specific font. Here are some samples of the fonts we have available (feel free to request a special font you see in the thread, too):
