Its Just Football ?!
Back in the day, a newly appointed Games Master of Minas Tirith invited the members of the plaza to join in with a new game
that he had created. Little did he know the impact that such a game would have on so many people and for so long!
For Pigskin as he called it, is one of the most popular and entertaining games on the plaza today. Its ability to bring
together peoples from all over the plaza into one thread, is a testament to what Naith tried to achieve in all that he did. Some say
“Its just football” but they would be wrong, it is far more than football, because that’s the way Naith created and designed it. It is an
experience like no other that conjures up so many different types of emotion, good and bad alike. To be part of the
Pigskin phenomena is to truly be part of an ongoing tale of mystery, excitement, joy, sadness, expectations, planning, and
above all sportsmanship. So much of the game depends on your own ability to read, to write and work as a team, that it is
fundamentally a learning experience as much as it is a game. Pigskin will continue ever on because just like Naith, it is great
fun, highly motivational but above all it is a people thing!
We all have great memories of the quick witted and clever rulings that Naith gave out as referee, but I think the most
memorable of all decisions was the one to pass the torch onto someone else when he left the plaza. As eager as he was to
distance himself from the plaza, so that he could begin the work that he had long neglected in his real life, Naith still spent
hours conveying the most technical of rules and producing several documents that consisted of the events and purchases
for the existing tournament. Even today he makes himself available to answer any queries the new referees might have.
Pigskin is a passionate game because its creator was too!
Pigskin is great fun to play with, because its creator was too!
Pigskin is intelligent and complex, because its creator was too!
But above all Pigskin is GREAT, because Naith was GREAT too!
