The story of Lothorethiel
t was a bleak day 25 years ago when the patrol group of Minas Tirith came
to the hills of Rohan on patrol. Several men were visiting a pub in a small
village on the outskirts. One man in particular, Amathor Calan, was interested
by the simple way the Rohirrim lived. The man fell ill after being attacked
by a stray warg. His comrades took him to the healer where a young red-haired
lass took care of him while the healer tended to others far worse off than
he. "What be your name, lass?"
"Kindiel."
" lovely name for a lovely lady." And that was the beginning of Amathor's
true interest in Rohan. He loved the simple way life in this village was and
wished to live there with all his heart. But his commitment to Gondor was
very important to him, almost as much as Kindiel herself. He was in love and
nothing would stop him, even near death when he announced his leaving Gondor
for the soft hills of Rohan and his wonderful Kindiel 2 years after he had met
the woman.
hile he had been gone, Kindiel had left the herbs for a much different
thing, a sword. She had become a shield maiden and was very well known in some
parts of Rohan. She had become wild and free while he had been gone. He forced
her to marry him and to stay by his side through the years. Such efforts took
their tolls on the woman and she fell tame, broken, and ill. Soon after they
wed, Kindiel and Amathor had a son whom they named Aden . They raised him as
best they could and 5 years later they were surprised to find that they were
once again expecting. On the 7th day of spring, little Gwaelyn Lothorethiel Calan
was born to them.
he family lived on a farm for many, many years. Lothorethiel, as she went
by, grew up into a pretty, shy lass with beautiful reddish blonde curls, stormy
grey-blue eyes, soft pale skin, and full pink lips. Upon Lothorethiel's
9th birthday, her mother insisted that Rethie be taught the way of the sword,
riding, and throwing daggers. This was a drawn out argument between Kindiel and
Amathor. In the end, as both parties grew weak, Rethie was allowed to be taught
by Aden since they dared not trust any other young gentlemen to train their naive
daughter. Rethie was very successful with her training and wished to join
the Cavalry but was forbidden to go by her mother. So, though she was well trained,
Rethie grew up as a simple farm maiden, destined to not go farther away than
the village where her father met her mother.
he years went by peacefully and Rethie grew into a beautiful lady. On
her 16th birthday, Rethie was out riding her horse when Amathor went
out hunting with Aden . It was many long weeks before either returned. Kindiel
had been growing weaker and Rethie more restless. When Aden came back without
his father, he was presumed dead. There had been rumors of orcs around and that
is supposedly what happened to him though there is no proof either way. Her mother
died soon after of a broken heart and soul. Rethie and Aden took care of the
farm until they decided to part ways. Rethie felt her heart calling her to her
father's home of Minas Tirith and Aden felt his own calling towards the sea.
ethie made her way to Minas Tirith starting on her 17th birthday. Deciding
to wander, she went about the newly freed Middle Earth. It was around her 19th
birthday before she finally arrived in Minas Tirith. She shyed away from all
activity for several months. She soon joined the Rangers under the command of
Trey Andurandir. She moved her way through the ranks of the Hyandaneri and soon
resided as Lieutenant and has since for a year. After her 20th birthday, she
fell for a sweet lad she met in Minas Tirith and has been pursuing since. This
is where she is now and will be for a long time to come.
