The story of Shayleyla

hayleyla was born sixteen years ago on the beginning of the April month. Her parents always thought of her as full of luck as she always managed to get away with everything. Her parents owned a small farm on the outskirts of Osgillath and she grew up there chasing the sheep and cows around their land with her brother who was five years older than her. When she was but eight her father died of a heart attack and left her mother shattered. She later died two years after her father. Her childhood was turbulent with the bandits that were constantly trying to steal her family's animals. Her escape from the constant work of keeping the farm in order was when her brother would teach her how to wield a sword. It was always his dream to join the rangers and become a hyandaner this dream passed down onto Shayleyla. Her parents before they died would teach her how to play various instruments as her family was full of musicians, Her father was a violin player and would teach her various reels and jigs every night after dinner around the fire place and her mother and brother were both lute players.

hen she was eleven the work of keeping the farm in order was too much for her brother to handle and he sold it off and they went to Minas Tirith to live with their aunt. But fate still had more tragedy in line for Shayleyla. They got lost on the way to Minas Tirith and must have wandered off too far east. They stopped down by a lake for some water when they heard an orc cry from behind them. Her brother quickly put her on his horse Danu and sent her off. Shayleyla tried looking back only to see her brother fighting the orc and seeing his helmet drop on the floor.

fter a few days in the forests around Minas Tirith Shayleyla finally saw the gates infront of her and was able to make herself through them. She had lost Danu soon after her brother had sent her off after being thrown off her back when she was spooked by something she didn't know.

hayleyla stayed with her aunt for a few days until her strength returned and then her and her aunt made their way towards the lake where she had last seen her brother. The sight was too much for Shayleyla to handle seeing her brother dead on the floor after having his head ripped off. They camped by the spot a few miles away from where he lay while her aunt gave him the proper burial.

hen they arrived at Minas Tirith after burying her brother her aunt gave her a sword, dagger and helmet. Shayleyla recognised the blade as her fathers as it had his name engraved on the blade – Auglus, the dagger she also recognised as her mothers for it had her maiden name – Sca'th'ah engraved on the hilt. The helmet she recognised straight away as her brothers as it was the one that had fallen off his head when he was fighting the orc, it was a simple helmet which had but a single star embossed of the front with a border of gold.

hayleyla joined the rangers several months ago with the same dream to become a hyandaner as her brother and awaits her training for full divisional status.
