The characters in Minas Tirith

The story of Gwaihir.

By Dorian Cleavanger

y birth, so I have been told, was spectacular, I was "airborne"literally, my father grabbed a towel and jumped in the air,, I've got..eh..her!". My parents where overjoyed with this long awaited arrival and I was pampered all through my young years.
My father Argonal, a sensitive and most loyal husband, was a Ranger and the White City's black-smith but one with an artistic swing to it. He was a great sword-maker and I inherited his skills of making fine weaponry.
He was killed in battle when I was 16 years of age.My mother Bella was an accomplished dancer, but when I came around she picked up her interest in Astrology and also helped my father polishing the brand new armour before the new owners came to pick them up.
She "was a feast for the eye", as my father would say, but died when I was 25, she never recovered from the loss of her husband and drowned herself in the river Anduin.

still live in the house where I first saw daylight, in the fourth level, close to the theatre, and in the midst of many creative and sometimes strange but interesting people.
My house, white with a bright red door, is fairly large and spacious compared to many others in this part of town, but that is due to the fact I renovated the barn into a little gallery where people can display their art and there I have my own "atelier" where I paint, make armour and give in to all sorts of creative outbursts, and I broke down as many walls the house could lose to create one big room. So I have no "upstairs" anymore, but I have ladders and ropes to climb up and down too get what I need, mostly books.
I have fell off a couple of times, of course, since I didn't got my mothers impeccable feeling of balance, but I couldn't live without the joy of swinging around, good practice too.

ince I became one of the Riders I am often found outside the City Walls, training my fantastic horse Whistletoe for all sorts of unexpected situations. I am definitely not the strongest amongst the Rangers, but I am fast and flexible.
When I swing my sword Thorondorian you better watch out! Although I am fairly accomplished as a Ranger I learn everyday from my superiors Anna Greenleaf and Morrandir, to them I owe a lot for making me the Ranger and Rider I am today.

n my spare time I study the Astrology books and charts my mother left me, and I am gazing up to the stars and try to figure out what it all means.
The King mentioned once that I am "eating all the time", which is, I am afraid, true. But in this life I can eat whatever I want without having to pay ( physically that is), my skills in making pies are exceptional and my roasted boar with honey is a White City classic!
Although my life is exiting and busy and I am satisfied with what I have, for only I miss " the one" once in a while.
But my future is hidden in the stars and jet not clear for me to what is next to come.
My door is always open to everyone, so feel free to visit, and hopefully you will enjoy my house (and everything in it) and company.
