The characters in Minas Tirith
The story of Huan.
By Brian Waugh
he Son of Hugh, Huan was brought up in a country barn on the border of Mordor and Gondor. His Mother was killed when
he was a toddler by an orc whom his father later killed. His father trained him in the skills of both bow and spear since
he was an ex-Guard of Gondor who had been discharged after losing his leg in a skirmish with orcs. His family is hard to
trace back through the generations, but no clear royal bloodlines are detected. Yet his grandsire Lane boasted that he was
the descendant of one of Anarion’s sons. His father never such lied like his sire did but did secretly think some Numenor
blood ran through the family since they had been blessed with longer lives than most.
As a young boy Huan had learned how to fight properly and had killed young orcs who had come acrosshis father's livestock.
His father was killed at the age of four and sixty by an orc captain. Devastated by his father’s death, Huan had fought the
orc who had beaten him and was about to kill the young boy until the orc fell on the spear Huan had used to fight with,
and was impaled. After Huan had taken revenge for his father he went back to the barn where he lived a solitary life by
himself for a time and a year. He then went to the city of Minas Tirith for the first time, where he quickly signed up
with the grand army of Gondor where he was posted at Dol Amroth and met his long-term companions Morrandir and Farimer.
fter serving for five years Huan was given leave from the army for a season, in which time he went back to his barn to
live in harmony. Disquiet filled him though so he journeyed to Rohan and even to the border of the Shire, where he fell
into a quest against an evil witch, whom he tried to kill. Failing, he was made her slave until his blood sang true and he
was able to break free of the enchantments that were placed upon him. Then he fought against two evil wizards where he met
his soon-to-be wife Anna Greenleaf who saved him in the caves of Moria. The two, accompanied by other Hobbits and Elves,
finally conquered the evil wizards.
Returning back to his homeland of Gondor, Huan went back to his company, which was now stationed in Minas Tirith. Soon an
envoy from Rivendell came to Minas Tirith who asked for a leader of Gondor to be sent to Rivendell so that there might be
a council on matters involving everyone in Middle Earth. The Queen had sent an old ambassador along with Huan’s company
under Morrandir’s control to Rivendell. Enjoying the life at Rivendell Huan had often visited a pub called Amanda’s bar
who was run by a mysterious elf named Mormegil. After awhile he had come across the elf that he had met from the War
of the River and the two fell in love after meeting several times.
oon Huan became rich with his coming into the ‘black-market’ in Rivendell. With this money he had bought Amanda’s bar
after it had closed and formed it into the ‘No Bubblegum Shewing Hobbit Pub', which turned into a major greeting place for
all of Rivendell. Soon though, talks on the council, where every nation and race had sent an envoy, were over and the two
lovers were separated. Huan returned to Gondor as a newly promoted Guard of Gondor, which had allowed him to celebrate
despite his yearning for his love. Soon Morrandir had come up with an idea of bringing back the Ithlien Rangers of old
which were disbanded a few years after The Prince of Ithlien Farimir had died. Soon Morrandir, Farimer and Huan had
formed up the Rangers with the permission of the Queen with recruits like the soon-to-be Princess of Ithlien and other
such strong Gondorians.
Huan was elected Captain of the Rangers, which was able to take his mind off the longing for his love Anna Greenleaf.
Soon though, his dilemma was solved, with Anna coming to Gondor to talk to the elves of Ithlien. The two were
reacquainted and Anna soon moved in with Huan at his house in the 6th circle of Minas Tirith. Huan was given time off
from his duties by the Queen, so he took Anna to the place where they met in the Shire. Friends were few there but
the Queen had managed to come to see the two married.
fter their honeymoon to Lothlorien, they had moved back to Minas Tirith, and Anna put her elvish inheritance
behind her to join the Men of Gondor. Soon she was 1st Rider in the new elite formation of the Rangers.
The two fought in many wars including the War against Haradrim and also in the quest to save their Queen Gilraen.
Now the two live with two twins: the six-year-old children Lirulin and Veronwe. The small family still
lives primarily in the house in the 6th circle of Minas Tirith but have a small cottage near the Ranger's Headquarters.
