The Lands of Gondor

Of old, Gondor was, and still is, a large realm. It extends from The arms of the Ered Nimrais in the West, to the Ephel Dúath, the border of Mordor, in the East. Also from the range of Ered Nimrais in the North to the Sea. In the North, the Ered Nimrais, or White Mountains, block the way towards Rohan, which can only be reached by small mountain paths. The rivers Lefnui, Morthond, Ciril, Ringló, Gilrain, Serni, Celos, Sirith and Erui all begin in the mountains, growing wider and bigger as they go downwards.

Between an arm of the White Mountains and Morthond lies the hill of Erech, where the infamous Dead Men of Dunharrow swore their oath to Isildur. Further south is Anfalas, literally 'Long Surf', Langstrand in the Westron tongue. To the north of it the hills of Pinnath Gelin(Green Ridges) block the view to the river Lefnui. Between two outstretched arms of Ered Nimrais Lamedon lies, through which Ciril and Ringló flow. Upon the banks of Ciril lies Calembel, a small township. Further down the river, where Ringló joins Ciril, is Edhellond. East of Edhellond lie the hills of the Dor-en-Ernil, beyond which lie the fief of Belfalas, and the palace of Dol Amroth, where Imrahil dwells. To the east of Belfalas, the rivers Gilrain and Serni,at the confluence of which lies Linhir, and fair Lebennin. To the south, the great Anduin finally meets the sea, and forms a delta, the Ethir Anduin, around which the soil is very fertile. Further up Anduin the rivers Celos and Sirith, and the haven of Pelargir, where there are many ships. To the east, bordering the Ephel Dúath, is fair Ithilien, and the hills of Emyn Arnen. Just at the walls of Mordor, Minas Ithil lies, once beautiful, but taken over by the enemy and renamed Minas Morgul. The once capital city, Osgiliath, lies on the Anduin, which flows through it. Empty are the streets of Osgiliath as the bridges are ruined, and gone is its splendour. But to the west, upon the hill of Mindolluin, lies, Minas Tirith, before called Minas Anor, the fairest of towers, in which the guards keep the watch on Mordor. Also, there are war-beacons which are used to warn of the Enemy. They are, in order going West: Amon Din, Eilenach in the Druadan Forest, Nardol, Erelas, Minrimmon, Calenhad, and Halifirien on the borders of the Firien Wood, well nigh to Rohan.
