The story of Saolis

he family history of Saolis is one of definite intrigue, for the families fortunes seemed to be tied to that of the Kingdom of Gondor. Saomir was one of the Fountain Guards who had been appointed by Isildur himself, after the battle of the Last Alliance. This would have been a great honor even though he feared that the Ring had begun to change his liege. It was during this duty that he acquired the Ring of Saolinder, a heritage marker to be passed down to the eldest son. During the Third Age as Gondor began its slow but steady decline so too did the heirs of Saomir, slowly losing the reputation and wealth, the noble family had become a mere shadow of its self. Once they had been one of the elite families they were now forced to live on the fifth level on Minas Tirith’s shadow covered south side. During the war of the Ring Saolis’ father Saodred had joined in its defense against the attack of Sauron’s minions, and accompanied King Aragorn Elessar to the Black Gate. Though Saodred had died, the War of the Ring was over and he had in some ways restored the family honor. A nameless Ranger brought the Ring of Saolinder back to Gondor where it was given to Saolis. Now Saolis hopes to regain the position of his ancestors- Citadel Guard of the White Tree. So now that Gondor seems to be on the rise in the Fourth Age- so too the heirs of Saomir.
