Lalaith Mel

I suppose I better start from the beginning. I was born an average hobbit lass, and still am rather average. I have a sister, Eilonwy Mearas, who is a Rohirrim. I’m really not sure whether she inherited that from my parents or whether she’s really just a hobbit in tall boots. She used to annoy me a lot, a natural and most essential quality of older sisters, but cannot do so much anymore, as she obviously lives in Rohan, like all Rohirrim should. I myself live in a quiet hobbit hole next to nobody particularly famous... well, at one point I did live next to Tari Boffin--naturally, when she wasn't the Valie superpower she is now--but another Valie and I *coughBrandycough* sort of destroyed her house, and the Shirriffs just weren't chipper about that for some reason. So now I live next to a rundown house with a green body paint splat somewhere in it. There's also a cool mossy (well, now it's kind of grody and gunky) birdbath in the backyard.

I think my hobbit hole is pleasant enough, although with the dim lighting and my terrible habit of misplacing my eyeglasses, I really couldn't tell you for sure. There's also a bit of confusion about whether I live on 22 Greenway Lane or 2 Greenway Lane. To avoid settling the question (how am I supposed to know?--can't see the numbers myself), my hobbit hole is conveniently painted as number 2(2); the second "2", of course, being optional. So you yourself may decide when you visit me whether it is more agreeable to visit me in my house on 22 Greenway Lane or 2 Greenway Lane.

People always look at me funny when I meet them for the first time--nine times out of ten they're probably just bemusing the fact that my hair looks like a haystack or wondering why the Mayors haven't kicked me out of Middle Earth yet, but occasionally I meet someone who notices my name and becomes genuinely curious why it is Elvish. It is odd for a hobbit to be named after an Elf, particularly an Elf who died violently at a startling young age (my parents were obviously bursting with hope for my future). Lalaith means "laughter", and partnered with mel, my name literally means "laughter love." Frankly this name describes me quite well--when I'm not running over some innocent hobbitchild with my walking cane, that is.

After this incredibly fascinating and intriguing bio, I'm sure all my readers are dying to know just how fantastically gorgeous Lalaith Mel is. Well, I'm afraid that a mere description just doesn't do me justice, but it'll have to do. I'm about 3’ 1" in height--shorter than most hobbits--but my bush--ahem, curly hair more than makes up for it. It's sort of auburny and clashes strangely with my pale skin and blue eyes. Currently I'm working on rebuilding my body fat--travel is a terrible thing, really, the effort uses up energy storage to the point that one actually loses weight. Drastic, I know. Hobbits must take utmost care when traveling, so as to prevent terrible shrinkages. Remember my advice, friend. That's all I've got.

Lobelia Boffin

Miss Lobelia Boffin is a medium sized hobbit, about 3'5" and has lovely goldish brown, curly hair and blue eyes. For her age, 24, she is a rather slender hobbit, which is due to her fast metabolism. Bel, as many people call her, grew up with her father and mother, Gierond and Albella. They travelled around a lot, so Bel really had no permanent home. Her favourite memory of her youth was when the family took a 'vacation' to Lothlorien. Bel is a generally nice hobbit, but can sometimes have a few mood swings. She is ditzy at times, also, and has a tendancy to be very random in her conversations. Despite her quarks, she has a passion for music and acting. She plays the piano and sings in the Shire Fire, and is heavily involved in The Shire Players.

Anyway, Bel lives alone in her hobbit hole, as her mother died a few years ago, and her father disappeared. There is speculation that her father, Gierond, killed her mother. They had been fighting a lot over the fact that Albella wanted to tell Bel about her family's backround, but Gierond wanted nothing to do with it. because of this, they had bitter arguments, that led to other things, and one day, Albella was found dead, and Gierond missing. Bel then planted herself in the Shire, vowing never to move.

While Bel was unpacking boxes in her home, she found some journals of her mothers, with an ornate family tree, going all the way back to the elves. It seems she was part of the Meadowcap family, and was sister to Trogia III, who happened to be a hobbit named Webit's father, making Bel and Webit cousins. She is also related to many more hobbits and other races alike, but that is for another biography.

Currently, Bel is active in many things in the Shire, and elsewhere. She is in the Shire Fire, Shire Players, Shire Poets, Shire Cooking Guild, and the Dominion army. As you can see, she loves to sing, write, act, and cook. Her best dish is a dessert, chocolate chip carrot cake. And that is about all that can be said about the hobbit lass, Lobelia Boffin.

Loralinn

Loralinn was born in the outskirts of Tuckburough to her parents Veronica Brandybuck and Hob Took. When she was old enough to walk it was already apparent to her family that she didn't like the concept of staying put. She was constantly traveling about the hills of Tuckburough and by the age of 5 years old she had already wondered as far as Bywater with her closest cousin Jory, whose family lived only two hobbit holes from her. As a toddler Loralinn enjoyed spending as much time as possible outside of the hobbit hole and often she brought home animals of all sorts which, to her relief, her parents usually allowed her to keep.

At the age of 6 her parents decided to open a vegetable and gardening shop in the Tuckburough market and they enlisted the help of Lora. She was put in charge of gardening and she instantly fell in love with it. Everday after she helped at the shop she would spend the evening playing in the garden and learning all that she could about the flowers and plants within it. Two years later Loralinn's little brother Dagwood was born and as soon as he was old enough to go outside with her alone, Lora was already teaching him about the land around him. The two would explore every close place they could find and Lora would stay out far into the night, even though she wasn't supposed to. Dagwood was not as adventurous as her so Lora often ventured alone if Jory could not come.

At the age of 15 Loralinns parents decided their children were old enough for more extensive traveling and so, wanting to open them up to a new culture, they moved to Rivendell. Lora loved everything about the elven culture. She befriended two elves named Ethil Celebros and Helluin and the three spent days exploring the woods and nights admiring the stars and telling stories about one anothers culture. Lora especially loved the tales of the Third Age, even if they frightened her at times. Lora stayed put in Rivendell until she was 17. She headed to the Trollshawls where she spent almost a month alone, roaming the area and writing a book of songs and poetry.

At the age of 20 Lora traveled again to the Misty Mountains with Ethil Celebros and Helluin where they spent three months in the mountains. They visted the Stair Falls and the Elven door although they did not venture into the dwarven realm of old. When Lora returned back to Rivendell once more she began helping out with the elven army in any way that she could but because of her size she was usually only there for moral support. None the less she was rewarded with a lovley tan pony that she named Laire. When Loralinn turned 24 her family moved to Rohan where they stayed in a small village in the West Emnet near the Snowbourn River. And of all her family it was Dagwood who explored this land the most and after a while of coaxing Lora he convinced her to travel it with him. They roamed Helms Deep for a week before meeting up with a group of men who then showed them around Edoras although they did not visit the Golden Hall. Nearly a year later when it was time to return to Rivendell, Lora had to say goodbye to Dagwood for he chose to remain in Edoras.

Again back in Rivendell Lora spent the next 2 years studying maps of Middle Earth and learning as much as she could about the lands. Upon her 26th birthday she was visited by Jory who convinced her to come visit the Shire and so she went. As soon as she arrived to her homeland she couldn't bear to leave it again and so, with a quick visit to her parents, she moved out of Rivendell and into Hobbiton. Over the next four years things settled down for Lora as she began to establish herself back into the Shire. But then the most dreadful news of her life arrived to her. Helluin her elven friend had been slain by orcs while traveling towards Minas Tirith. A broken hearted Lora set her life aside for a while to return to Rivendell and attend the funeral of her beloved friend. When she returned home she felt a new passion for life.

And so now, at the age of 35 Loralinns tries to keep herself as busy as possible and enjoys doing so. When she is not reading or writing at home she is at the SKC or the AG working buisly on various projects. She is also a member of the gardening club where she has been able to rekindle her love for flowers. In Dear Rosie she works as the food and herbs correspondent and enjoys doing so for she always loved food! She has been a member of the HDS for quite a while and is looking forward to participating in it more. Soon she will be setting up a baked goods store in the Shire Market where she will work with her cousin Jory and their other cousin Honey Gold. She was even apart of Survivor Middle Earth in Mirkwood which will be a life long memory. She now has many pets and many friends who are all irreplaceable and hold special places in her heart. She has never been happier and although she still travels when she can she spends most of her time within the Shire for she has found that of all the places in Middle Earth, this simple land has offered her the most.
