    Scary

The name Smallburrow comes from a family of hobbits who are known for the small size of their hobbit holes. This hobbit was given the name Scary because from the moment he was born his parents were frightened of him. At first sight you will see nasty scars on his face, one running vertically down each eye. The scars were a result of a run-in with a nasty wild dog. He is of average height for a hobbit. In fact he'd never measured his height, but it didn't matter. His hair is brown and curly and his eyes are just as brown. It is a very rare sight to see him wearing clean clothes.
Scary was not born in the Shire, but just outside of it in Bree. He left his parents when he was young and came to The Shire in search of peace and quiet. This move resulted in him being disowned from the family. Almost all of the family members had lived exclusively in Bree until that moment. He very rarely discusses his immediate family and his bad relationship with them. But he will never shy away from talking about the history of the Smallburrow family as a whole, that was something he enjoyed immensely. It was an old hobbit habbit.
In the Shire he wandered mainly, never settling in one place. He never did much more than drink, eat, sleep, and stealing clothes off washing lines. He was short on money and needed to resort to petty acts like thievery. That was until he met a pretty hobbit lass who seemed to be able to put up with his stink and his bad habits. He moved in with her and they enjoyed a short marriage. But this ended when Scary was forced to return to Bree to tend to important matters. His wife lost hope that he would ever return, and the two divorced. There was much gossip all over The Shire as to where exactly he had disappeared to, and what would make a happy hobbit who had everything he needed just disappear and leave for strange places. But one day after many months he returned, and you can guess the uproar that caused. The hobbits had quite enjoyed the time that he was away, for they didn't have to worry about the clothes on their line being stolen anymore. They found it rather rude when he just turned up one day without so much as a warning.
After his trip away from the Shire he returned with a large sum of money. Hobbits of the Shire thought he'd stolen all the money, remembering his past antics. What they didn't know was that his trip away had been to Bree where his mother had died and where his family was now living. Despite disowning Scary from the family, his mother had never thought to change the will, and he ended up with a fancy amount of money. Finally able to care for himself without stealing, the first thing he did was buy himself a nice smial in a hill in Bywater with great views of the pool. Despite settling down and behaving more like a hobbit should, rumours and stories still run wild around the Shire about how he had gained all his money. The hobbits havn't forgotten the story of Bilbo disappearing and returning with a large chest of gold.
Today, despite having a fair amount of money, Scary leads a quiet life enjoying simple pleasures like food, pipeweed and good ale. He has become very lazy since he came of age, and whenever he can he will get someone to cook for him or clean his smial for him. Being single, he needs to hire people to do such things for him. In other things though, he is anything but lazy. He will walk for miles for a good ale, and also enjoys walking throughout the Shire in search for big, tasty mushrooms.

    Seph Goodbody

Well my full name is Sephrenia Goodbody, more commonly known as Seph. I am a fairly average hobbit, well in appearance at least; wavy blonde hair that falls to my shoulders, blue eyes and of course the average height of a hobbit at about 3ft tall. My mother was by birth a Maggot but married my father Merimac Goodbody. Unfortunately due to the untimely death of my Grandparents the care of the Goodbody ancestral home fell to me (being the eldest) so I had to move from a comfortable small smial in Hobbiton to a larger smial in Waymeet. My parents having a comfortable life farming a small area of the marish didn’t want to move and indeed it would have been decidedly difficult for them. My younger brothers and sisters are spread around the North Farthing mainly (a close connection with the Bracegirdle family in that area). There is rumoured to be some Brandybuck blood in the family, but how far back that is I don’t know, although this may explain my adventurous streak.

My childhood was nice and peaceful, spent in the Marish mainly, and of course I spent some time with my siblings at the smial in Waymeet. A nice pleasant town, close to Hobbiton and on the main East road, joining the ways to Little Delving and Tookland. As you can imagine there were a fair few comings and goings in the town; there still are. The ancestral home of the Goodbodies isn’t a grand affair but it is comfortable enough, and there is room and to spare to house some at least of the large family. But my first love is travel, and the one constant factor in my travels around Middle Earth had been Flute, although slightly bad tempered she is as loyal a pony as I could wish for.

My travels first started when I went to Bree with an older cousin, I loved the differentness and the adventure of leaving the Shire. I must confess I didn’t come back from this visit for ten years. I waved good bye to my cousin at the gates and headed off with Flute in the general direction of Rivendell. I spent a while travelling the country this side of the Misty Mountains, but growing bored passed through Moria to Lothlorien and began to journey around these areas. Soon enough I found somewhere to suit me for a while, Rohan where I stayed about a year, before travelling back home.

I was twenty when my travels started, young and in my tweens, but now at the end of this time I decided to return to the Shire and lead a slightly better life as some may have put it (a respectable one at least). But some strange travellers may come to my door in the night. But back where I belong I feel a sense of relief to be off the open road and instead travelling the Shire. Independent as I have been for ten years it’s not surprising that I keep my independence; although I am beginning to get used to being around other hobbits again it may well prove to be a long road before I am considered a respectable hobbit.
