December 1, 2002 saw the opening of Isengard's first Scavenger Hunt, led by
Isengard's own Arwe Thereyet. The rulers were simple:
You will be given a list of items you need to collect from people
throughout the kingdoms. You will have to go into that kingdom, find an
appropriate thread (more on that, shortly) and ask someone to give you the
needed item. If it is something you can gather on your own, you must ask
permission to gather it. I will be checking up on you when determining the
winner. Only go into threads that are appropriate; pubs, and other casual
places. Don’t crash in where you’re not wanted, or where you don’t belong,
like RPG’s, debates, etc. Be polite! We want people to welcome us, and
remember us kindly. We may want to do this again!
The first one to return here with all of the items, and where and from whom
you got each one, will be the winner. After verification, of course. Example:
eye of newt - given by Starbreeze at the Skyluth
The list was not quite as simple as the rules. Arwe really opened up her imagination to come up with
the list of items participants had to find.
- An enchanted frog
- A mallorn leaf - preferably fallen
- A leech - used for healing
- Squizzel food - what do they eat?
- A napkin from a wedding or celebration
- A Legolas love letter
- A piece of hardened lava, from the Cracks of Doom
- A trinket from a newbie
- A Rohirrim arrow
- A mathom
Only 48 hours after the game was opened, Arwe came and closed the game with only Araithnhan and Jemma_Took finding all of the
required items. The game was so popular Arwe opened a second round on December 6 with the rules modified a bit so that more people could participate.
This time around participants would only be looking for three items a day rather than the whole list.
Items for Day One
- Small, broken instrument of torture
- Short piece of Elven rope
- A little something from the buttery of one of the companies of the guard of Minas Tirith
Items for Day Two
- A tie from the braided mane of a horse of Rohan
- A vial of water from the Entwash
- A ticket stub from the Museum at Michel Delving
Items for Day Three
- A picture of someone’s battle scar. (So remember to bring your camera)
- An Elanor blossom
- A seagull feather
Items for Day Four
- Candy from a newbie
- Hair conditioner from a wizard
- An invitation from a celebration (wedding, reunion, etc.)
Narglamion was officially declared the winner of the Scavenger Hunt on December 11.
