Plaza Terminology
 

It can be severely confusing being a newbie, with all these weird and plain incomprehensible words, acronyms, and phrases flying about. We all wondered whether getting “glomped” was a good or a bad thing once upon a time, and were equally mystified as to what an “NPC” was. And, at the end of the day, who on Arda is “Mr Wiggles”?

Plaza-Wide Terminology
Bumping
: [verb] A method of shunting a thread back to the front page of a forum by posting “bump”, so as to prevent it from becoming buried. Variations of the classic style include bumpies, bumperoo and bumpa-dee-doo-da.
Confuzzled: 1. [adjective] To be greatly confused. 2. [adjective] To be in a state of confuzzlement.
Foo-foo: 1. [noun] The put-upon silliness as practised mainly by the Elves of Rivendell. Easily identified by nonsensical use of absurd and random phrases. Commonly associated with the colour pink. 2. [adjective] Something that displays the qualities of foo-foo. 3. [noun] An Elven practitioner of foo-foo.
Glomp: [verb] A sort of rugby tackle-cum-hug, often used as a form of greeting in the place of the more widespread handshake.
God-mode: [verb] Giving yourself extreme and unfair advantages in an IC thread, e.g. The Hobbit snapped his fingers and became an invulnerable, fire-breathing dragon.
I.C.: [abbreviation] Stands for In-Character – a thread where you take on the role of your Plaza alter-ego and act accordingly to how he/she would.
NPC: [abbreviation] Stands for Non-Playable Character – usually found in RPGs.
O_o: [emote] An odd look.
Poke: [verb] To extend your finger until it touches something, and apply pressure. Usually used against something bad or unfair.
R/As: [abbreviation] Stands for Rulers/Administrators, the Plaza members that have proven their worth over a long period of time and have either been charged with co-running the goings on of their kingdom (rulers), or act as Eru’s staff and moderate the forums and Plaza as a whole (administrators).
Rofl: [abbreviation] Stands for “Roll on the floor with laughter.”
Roffle: [verb] The phonetic spelling of the pronunciation of the acronym rofl.
Spam: 1. [noun] A post that defies the laws of posting by existing solely to gain a point, by one of many methods: stretched smilies or excessive use of characters, endless waffling without actually making a point, talking about something completely irrelevant. 2. [verb] To post an item classified as spam
Spammer: [noun] A naughty person that dabbles in the dark practice of spamming.
Spammer Hammer: [noun] The instrument with which Admins destroy all spam.

WC Specific Terminology
HIE: [abbreviation] Stands for the Heren Istarion Elen, Isengard’s monthly newspaper.
Mini Uruk-Hai: [noun] The result of terrifying breeding experiments carried out by SaruMir, these loveable little things are not the ferocious monsters their bigger brothers are, but carry out chores around Orthanc.
Mr Wiggles: [noun] The beloved mascot of the Wizateers, although nobody really knows what he is…a strange wobbly blue thing that dances.
OOM: [abbreviation] Stands for Order of Merlin, the order of Istari chosen by their rulers to act as administrators of the WC (although without editing/deletion rights), and are to the rulers as the administrators are to Eru.
Wedgieccino: [noun] The beverage of the Istari: a heavenly blend named after the immortal Wedgie.
Wedgiedance: 1. [noun] The traditional dance of the wizards, its methods shrouded in secrecy, but each Istar with their own individual style. Named after its creator, Wedgie. 2. [verb] To perform the Wedgiedance.
Whoop whoop: [exclamation] The trademark cry of the Wizateers.
Wizateer: [noun] A member of the nefarious band of mischief-makers that inhabit Isengard and frequently run amok, terrorising any hapless soul that crosses their path under the emblem of the Blue Feather. Incidentally, both of the WC’s current rulers are Wizateers, as are both of its previous ones.
