They had grown up in the Grey Havens. At the age of 10, began to show signs of magic happening to some degree, but sometimes their magic was so strong that it could cause chaos. In the end, the elves at Grey Haven could not cope, and sent the sons and daughters of races to Isengard to become wizards.
Soon, the 15 of them started to show different aptitudes. Ainwe was best at air, Numo at water, Aniero at earth, Luo at fire. Sieten could heal to the utmost degree. Ren could make people reflect. Aslk was best at battle magic. Weaver could weave thread so fine, the most handy lacework seemed drab. Sando could make sure that people could be prodded in whatever direction they wanted. El was wiser than any. And so on.
And so it progressed, that the 15 maiar started their training. Their teacher was a wanderer, and where he went, so did they. And they learnt much. Their control however, before their teacher could teach them any over their magic however, was killed by orcs that ambushed them.
The 15 of them escaped with their lives, wounded severely. Sieten healed them, but she could not heal her own injuries. WEaver thus healed hers, but not very well. They made their way back to Isengard, But they got seperated by a dreadful storm.
And so Aniero and the rest wandered. Aniero made his way back to Isengard after 20 years, dishevled and dirty, but greatly increased in wisdom. The rest made their way back about a few weeks later. By then, Aniero had managed to get a large room from the friendly tower manager, Walker.
And so they settled in Isengard, where things that were previously upheld had been stood on its head, and where they now fitted in more easily. For times of great upheavel had come and gone. And there were now changes made for the better.
But they used magic too disparigingly and were thus banished by Gandalf and Saruman to the west again. They were not happy by this, but who could defy those so honoured by the Valar?
They remained in Isengard for years, until they finally stole a boat and sailed once more to the west. But the Valar knew as soon as they put a foot off Valinor, and their ship was shipwrecked on ME, and they were scattered to 15 corners of the earth, wandering, hoping to come ever closer to Isengard.
Now the 15 have returned, with new forms and names, and are now integrating into Isengard again.

The robes of the 15 istar are plain and simple, made by Redhawk. They all wear robes made of the same material. The only difference between them is that they are of different colours and the hems of their borders are different depending on the valar association |
The staffs of the 15 istar are made of willow and holly. The stone on the top is more of a crystal ball that shines depending on how much magic the istar uses. Like the robes, they are of different colours and the engravings in Quenyan are different, and so is the engraving on the stones themselves, depending on the Valar. |
