Where to begin my tale? I wonder as I sit here to write it down. Shall I begin in the timeless halls, or my time in the west, or even the long sea journey into the east? No it would be best to start with my landing at the grey havens. It would be truthful to say that Ulmo had been far from kind to me in my crossing, but despite all I arrived safely as I was bid by my master landing to the west of the grey havens and destroying my ship. For I had been told that there was to be no trace of my arrival and that I was to move in the utmost secrecy until I received a signal from my master. So it was I set out having sent my ship back to the sea in flames for Ulmo to take as payment for my crossing.

From the grey havens I passed through the tower hills and began my westward march I passed as an average big person through the Shire. I must say the food of that region is by far the best that I have ever experienced. Now while in the shire I took in the green hill country as it was beginning to heal from Saruman’s occupation. It was then that I realized the truth of why Yavanna had sent me the world had sustained great hurts. Hurts that only a caring soul could possibly hope to heal. So it was that I continued eastward reaching Bree shortly after I left the Shire and there I stayed for a full year learning much of lore form those people, however tainted I found it to be in years to come. From Bree I continued along the Great East Road coming to Imladris where I spent another year in the libraries left in the keeping of Glorfindel, broadening my knowledge of ME and particularly the issues of what had occurred just before my arrival. It was there I learned of the three great forests of the land Mirkwood, Lorien, and Fangorn, and where I learned of the Tower of Isengard and the fact that I was not the first such visitor from the west to pass this way. It was then I understood I had to go to the tower and seek out the others like me … the Isitari.

But, first I had to see the forest my heart felt drawn to them. Thus I made my course from Imladras to the old ford along the Old Forest Road. Tarrying for a time in Mirkwood I was aghast at the evil within that wood it drove me to fly back along the road I came away from the forest and then south along the river Anduin until I came to the Silverlode. Where I entered Lorien the most mystic of woods in middle earth...

Leaning back he sanded the page and closed the cover standing up he thought to himself there is more to be written, But it must wait for a time more before it is written he could but hope the next to find this book would leave him ample room to finish his tale.

In Lothlorien I found little comfort it seemed a most cold wood unlike those of Fangorn which I would come to in years to come. As I was leaving the Golden Wood, however, the oddest thing occurred a limb straight and fair fell shattering my staff of holly. As I moved to gather the shards in some hope of mending them my hand brushed across the Mallorn limb and a vision flashed into my mind .... It was at this point on my journey that I realized my purpose.... I saw a vision of trees, flowers, and many other plants fading from the light of day and never returning, and so when I came back to myself I dropped the shard of the old staff, or all but the largest, and took up the limb and set forth again. As time passed I began to shape and time the limb to more wildly proportions and by the time I reached the borders of Fangorn it had become a fine staff.

In Fangorn perhaps for the first time in Middle earth I truly felt at home it was a far warmer wood than Lorien and the resident’s of that wood had much wisdom to share in the lore of plants and forest and even the language of the trees. The time I spent in that wood was indeed well spent but I continued to feel drawn to this place to the Wizard’s Vale. So at last I arrived with my memories of Fangorn still fresh in my mind, and here I dwelled learning as much as I could until the time came that I felt drawn back to the forest and so I returned. This time, however, I brought something new with me mason’s and carpenters from the Dwarven realm in the Glittering Caves whom I had become aware of by the workings the did at the tower.

One place in the forest stuck out in my mind not far into the southern boarder among the feet of the Misty Mountains above a small pond that had been there for ages untold unknown to any one from outside of the forest. And work began the first to be built was the great green house where my work began and then followed the palace where I laid many scrolls and books of woodland lore, the use of plants, horticultural wisdoms of ages long gone. When all was done I saw to the planting of a single mallorn seed in the great court on the hill below the palace. Here I should note that I have indeed left out a chapter in the telling a dark portion of my tale that shall not be recounted her just yet. Now time presses on me and I must once more fly to Fangorn the rest of the tale must wait a while more.
