My name is Darkholm. Actually, that is not my true name. No, my true name is to remain a secret. My mother and father died when I was ten.

On that fateful day, I met a stranger in the woods. He wanted to know where I lived. I told him, and he headed off. A while later, I heard two screams. I was halfway back to the house when I met the stranger again. He stabbed me with a dagger I knew to be my parents’- When I didn’t die right away He shot me. But not with an arrow. With a burst of dark energy. It grazed my chin, leaving a mark. It continued on- Straight into my wound.

When I woke up, I followed a beacon of smoke back to my house. When I arrived, I found my Parents’ ashes smoldering. I went inside and for a week I lived alone, tending to my wound and living off of the food inside.

On the eighth day I found my wound healed. The week after I realized that I would have to get my own food. I learned how to hunt, and lived alone for some 10 years. When I was twenty-ish, I found a small pool. I drank, and rested beside it. That day I found out what had truly happened to me. I looked in the pool and saw my reflection- and was horrified to find that my eyes were pitch black. No whites, no pupils. I made a vow that day to never let my face be seen. From there I met a traveler. He took me in, and taught me the art of ninjitsu. When he was done training me, He gave me a name- Darkholm. For he and he alone was able to see my eyes. I became an assassin - - a hitman, some called me. It was on my fifth job that I met my target. I was horrified to find that this was none other than my parent’s killer. I tortured him. Then I told him who I was. His face was priceless. I murdered him in the messiest way possible, by cutting off his fingers, then his hands, until he was nothing more than a limbless body with a head. I did not feel redemption, but rather a strange emptiness that left me wanting more. I continued in my work, and became a hunter, rather than a hitman. I stalked my target, scaring him and taunting him each step of the way- often taking about a week to end the hunt. I did this, and then I killed him in the end. about 5 hunts later, I switched my strategy. I made it an infaillible objective not to be seen- not even by my target. I found this even more challenging- and rewarding- than hunts.

I feel that you do not need to know how I got to be the person I am today beyond what I have told you.

I know that my secrets will be found out one day, and then I may be forced to disappear…
