Hellknight

*though he was been is Isengard for a long time now, so far, Hellknight had not put his history in writing yet - he hadn't even shared it with anyone. Since he felt now was the right time to do so, Hellknight went to the Chambers of History, and started writing*

What now follows is the history of Hellknight the Istari, written in his own hand.

Long have I dwelt in Valinor, studying mostly with Oromë and Nienna. I have seen the fall of the Lamps, and have witnessed the destruction of the Trees. I was part of the Host of the Valar that engaged Morgoth and his minions.
When I learned what was happening in Middle Earth, people suffering beneath the yoke of Sauron, I longed to go to Middle Earth, and aid the people there. Then, one day, Manwë called an assembly of the Maiar and Valar, asking for volunteers to be send to Middle Earth, clad in the bodies of Men, to aid the Free People in their battle against Sauron. This was what I had been waiting for – a chance to do what I had wanted for a long time.
Unfortunately for me, only five were chosen at that time, and alas, I was not among those five. Among the ones chosen was the wisest of the Maiar – Olorin, who later became known as Gandalf, and became favored by Eru. Eventually, Sauron was defeated, and we all thought there would be peace again in Middle Earth.
But soon, the Valar forsaw that evil was not exterminated – orcs and wargs were still around, Men started to worship Morgoth. Again, the Valar asked for volunteers, and this time, I was chosen as one of them, and was send to Middle Earth. There, we organized ourselves into a Council, or Order, of wizards – for this was how the people of Middle Earth saw us – and we became known as the Order of the Istari, or the White Council, under the leadership of Gandalf, and Saruman, who had once turned traitor, but eventually returned to the true path.
When our mission will end, none of us knows. As for myself, I am content here in Middle Earth, living with my fellow Istari, and traveling to the different areas of Middle Earth.
Thus ends the history of Hellknight, the Istari.

 

When I arrived in Middle Earth, one of my first activities was the crafting of my Staff.  It is made from a single piece of oak, with a piece of quarts attached on top of it. The ends are reinforced with metal straps, and a piece just above the middle is wrapped with leather, giving me a better grip. The leather bands, and metal enforcing allows me to use the staff as a weapon in case of emergency. It is adorned with a Celtic-like design, spiralling along the entire staff, with a pentagram etched into it just below the quarts.
