I don’t remember much of my previous life. It’s all confused and indistinct. I can recall that I was in the Tulkas’ host, and in my dreams I see the light, the warm and the peace. I had dreams in which I remember that I was chosen and the purpose I’ve to follow. And of course I dream about Morgoth and his minion Sauron. I don’t know when and why this is happened to me: I’ve talked about it with my brothers Istari in Isengard, but I’ve not found a clue about my amnesia. The first real thing that I remember is the village of Freeclouds. It’s a lonely, little village of humans, deep in the Misty Mountains. The villagers found me unconscious after a snowstorm. I remained there for four years, living, hunting and farming with them. They believed that I was a sort of Shaman, because I’ve certain knowledge of the herbs and I’m trained in the Healing Sciences. When I acquired these knowledges, this remains a mystery to me! There was an orphan in Freeclouds, called by all simply “Wild-eyes” boy. We two were the ‘pariah’ of the village, ever tolerated, but never accepted, so we join our forces to survive, and he was my first friend. One day, about three years after my arrival in the village, we were hunting a breed in the woods. Suddenly I had a strange feeling: I felt fear, hatred and blood lust. I can barely walk out of the glade, and I’ve to stop there for a while. How it came, the sensation went away, so I quickly reached the other hunters. Three days after, on our way back to the village, I departed from the party to come back to the glade. I wanted to know what’s happened to me, and Wild-eyes decided to come with me. When we reached the glade, I felt again pain and sadness. This time I was prepared, so the sensations didn’t overcome me. I moved along, reaching the place where they were stronger. There I found a wolves’ den, with a big female recently died. Besides there were two wolves’ pets, and I understood that I was experiencing their feelings. I took them to the village, in spite of Wild Eyes and the other villagers that wanted to kill them! I protected and fed them, and I learned more about the ties that join us. Now I know how to communicate with them and how to lower their thought and sensations in my mind. I called the male one ‘Shadow’: he’s a big and black animal with golden eyes, ever ready to hunt in woods. The female is a slender animal, with a silver fur and light blue eyes, named ‘Ice’. I haven’t adopted them, but rather I’m entered in their wolf pack. Some times after the wolves’ discovery, Wild-eyes decided that he had to do in his life something more than what Freeclouds offered, and he left the village, headed to the north. He gave me his best bow and I gave him the armband I had when the villagers found me. I haven’t seen him since then, but I’m sure I’ll encounter him again. Three months after the departure of my friend, I too decided to leave. There were many good people there, but I’m not one of them and I felt in the wrong place there. So I left the village with my pack, following the Nimrodell to the East. I wanted to find the Lorien woods, a place that the villagers described as “the Land where horse born with eagles’ wings and where honey bees have lost their sting”. It was a sort of promise land for them. I searched for “the magical Elves”, hoping that they could help me to find my lost self. When we reached Lorien, I looked at the golden woods with great wonder, but I think that the elves too were wondered by the wolves’ behaviour. For this they called me Draugdil, which means “Beloved by Wolves”. From Lady Galadriel and Lord Celeborn I learned that I wasn’t simply a human, but an Istari and that there are others like me in a place called Orthanc. But I was fearful to encounter them, so first I went to the Grey Harbour, in the west. Here Lord Cirdan told me that I was arrived in Middle-earth only recently four and half years ago, and that with me there was another Istari called Alamir. At that point I have no other options than Orthanc, so I travelled to the White tower. I don’t know why I was so timorous to encounter my brothers. Maybe it’s something related to the things I can’t remember. I arrived to Isengard two months ago, and I established here. I’ve a room in a tower and a place for my wolves. I’ve opened a bazaar for a while and I found a work in the immense library. I also help in the works for the recently discovered underground labyrinth. But I still haven’t found any clues about my past, nor anybody here seems to have ever known Alamir. |
The Robes are in a hardwearing fabric which repels dirt which is rather handy when travelling which I know you have been doing recently. The colour is two toned, being a mixture of Aqua and dark navy blue. These colours represent knowledge and integrity which you have in abundance, two qualities which are greatly admired by all. The material is also a warm fabric which will keep you warm when travelling up in the mountains which you love so much especially at night when it can get quite cold, there are deep pockets sewn in for your books and quills so that you may write when inspiration hits you or enjoy a quiet read when the fancy takes you. I have embrodered the cover of your favourite book onto the back of the robe. For the lining of the robe I have used the beautiful tartan fabric you donated to the robe shop, the Royal Stuart colours matching the colours on the outside of the robe, I have pleated the lining to resemble the kilt you so admire and have made the robe reversible so that you can turn it inside out and wear your kilted robe with pride. Now not knowing what the special occasions are I have had to use some artistic licence in the materials I have used for your cloaks. Firstly the gold cloak I have used a golden silk lined devorče fabric with a watermarked silk lining and edging and deep collar with a golden sunburst clasp at the neck. Your multicoloured cloak was very good for using up all those scrap pieces of material we have lying around so there is a great mixture of textures and colours in this cloak. I have used squares of fabric in the quilt style for this robe and there is almost every colour in ME in that cloak somewhere. Instead of a clasp on this cloak I have braided together strands of different coloured wools and sewn these to the neck of the cloak so that you can tie the robe at the neck. |
My staff is the only high prize thing I own. It’s a highly ornamental six foot staff made from 1,000 year old oak (sorry Ents!) and decorated with etchings of the Elven journey to ME from Valinor covering its length. There are eight coin sized gems, four at each end of the staff where they are magically embedded. The gems are not removable without destroying the staff completely. The gems, emerald, ruby, topaz and diamond (two of each), represent the four elements. This staff was created by an unknow, but high skilled elvish craftman. Originally used to protect elves during the hazardous journey, it was last used to fight a pursuing army of Orcs some 20 years ago. Elven accounts of the incident state that the owner of the staff cast an unknown spell and sent both lightning and fire through the trailing army, before the ground opened up to swallow the horde. It is believed that no one has ever used the staff to cause such destruction since. This staff, or a similar one, has been seen in recent years in the hands of an adventurer, that sold it to a merchant from Harad, that didn’t know of it’s value. He exchanged it with me for a couple of Rohirrim’s horses |
