The Lord of the Rings Directory Initiative
Welcome to this new intiative by the Lord of the Rings Fanatics Network. We are going to try to chart the Online Lord of the Rings Community by contacting those with Lord of the Rings sites and requesting a link exchange with them. We will be creating the largest Directory of Lord of the Rings Sites Online. A very interesting resource for ourselves and other Tolkien Fans
How it Works
All members of the Lord of the Rings Fanatics Plaza can suggest a Site for inclusion in this directory. The procedure works as follows:
- You can search the internet for websites that are Tolkien and Lord of the Rings related. You can then use the 'Suggest Site' button to suggest this site for inclusion. You will need to submit the website's: Title, URL and Email Address of the Webmaster

Upon submitting a site our database is checked to make sure that the URL is not already in our database. We do not want to enter duplicate sites nor do we want to spam webmasters!

If the Site is not in our database an email will be sent to the webmaster of the site using the email address you submitted. This message is sent automatically and it will explain to the webmaster that we want to exchange links with them
- If the webmaster is interested he can use the link sent to him/her in the email message to enter the site details into our database
- Rulers and Administrators are able to review sites that have been submitted by members and edited by webmasters. If they approve of the site the link will be added to our Directory. The webmaster is always contacted through email about how his site has been reviewed and if his site was approved or rejected
- If you have suggested a site and the site is Approved then you will receive 10 Fanatic Points and 10 Plaza Credits to thank you for a succesfull Link Exchange
Policies & Guidelines
In suggesting sites it is crucial that you abide by the following guidelines:
- Do not suggest Official sites or Company Sites! Our focus is completely on Fan Sites created either by individuals or non-profit organisations. We already have co-operation arrangements with many companies and sending them a Link Exchange Request might seem weird. So make sure to check that the site you are suggesting is a Fan Site and in no way a Company or commercial organisation.
- Only suggest sites that are Tolkien or Lord of the Rings related. They do not have to be totally dedicated to this subject but must have a considerable amount of Tolkien orientated content.
- Do not suggest (parts of a site) more than once. Make sure that you are always suggesting the Homepage of a website and never parts of it. For instance: if www.lordotrings.com was already in our directory then you should not suggest www.lordotrings.com/quiz/default.asp as a website. Even though it is perhaps a section that would go in another site category. Every website should only be listed once!
