Talan of Debates
On a talan high above the forest floor, there lies a great gathering place, the Debate Hall. Rectangular in shape, the Hall is opened to the forest surrounding it. A soft breeze flows through carrying the sound of birds singing and a clear blue light shows through the many windows. There is a stage at the far end, and many seats are before it, including a small desk and chair for the judge. Upon the stage two tables are set opposite each other, their white glimmering with iridescent hints of blue. At the center of the stage stands a small podium, simple in shape but intricately carved with many tengwar telling the stories of long-forgotten times. Upon the two tables, silver pitchers and goblets are delicately set, and around the tables are white chairs carved eloquently to match the seats for the audience. Team Information
What we do!
The Debate Team represents Lothlorien in the Inter-Kingdom (IK) Debates, organized formal debates between kingdoms. The IK Debates are round-robin (meaning every team debates every other team). At the end of the series the top teams enter into a playoff series. At the end of the playoffs, one team is declared the season's "IK champions".
The Debate Team also holds a Training Workshop Talan where anyone that is interested in becoming a member of the Debate Team can go and go through a step-by-step process of a debate post. They also hold pratice debates, restricted only to those team members who have gone through the process completely.

This is the place where all Galadhrim can ask questions, Debaters can sign-up for IK debates, and the team Captains post all announcements. Cheerleaders and Helpers can also sign-up for the team here.
Behind the scenes planning and discussions for an IK Debate take place in a secret (Kingdom Only) thread. The team works together to come up with arguments, find supporting quotes, and critiquing each other's posts. Debaters write the debate posts, and Helpers – Galadhrim who just help with the arguments, but do not write them themselves – can help.
Want to try-out for the Debate Team?
Post the following information in an Open Practice if you want to be a Debater:

- Debate experience (Plaza or RL):
- Books you have read/have access to:
You will put on the team as a Trainee Debater, and will then go through the step-by-step process of a debate post, following the posts posted by Captain Princess Gia. You will be taken on by either Princess Gia herself or her Co-Captain Nen, and once you finish the steps, you will be moved up to a Reserve Debater. From there, you must either do an IK Level debate post or wait until a Practice Debate and participate in that. The Team Captains will evaluate the debate post(s) using the same criteria as in previous tryouts. If there are any questions please ask in the Debate HQ.

Please note that applications for Cheerleaders and Helpers are only accepted close to the start of the actual season. Casual spectators at IK debates are highly encouraged! So even if you do not want to be a cheerleader you are welcome to come watch.
