Deep within Caras Galadhon and amongst a large copse of mallorn trees, the highest mallorn that reaches beyond the forest roof is the home of the Lothlòrien Jewelry Association. A long, silvery rope ladder hangs down from it, and you climb it to arrive at a high flet made out of silver.
Once your feet are steady upon the ground, a receptionist awaits you behind a desk built out of a deep, blue diamond. The room behind her is large and circular, and a soft breeze continually flows through the talan as if it is always autumn. The sign written in Tengwar reads:
Mae Govannen! Welcome to the Lothlòrien Jewelry Association!
Here we aim to design and produce beautiful jewelry, mainly elven style but certainly other styles as we are open to all races of Middle Earth. We work with gems of all shapes, sizes, colors, and types and under all aspects of jewelry crafting. Rings, bracelets, broaches, necklaces, tiaras, pendants: we do everything you wish. So if you are looking for a gift for that special someone or you desire to bring out the sparkle in your eyes, this is the place!

If you look more carefully behind the reception area, however, you see three large work areas divided by high walls of glass.
In one area, you see a studio of easels and broad desks. People are studying clients’ order forms and drawing jewelry designs with various pencils and paints. In another, the talan stretches out to where there is a high and wide chaisse full of all of the jewels available in Middle Earth. Ten feet away from the chaisse are aisles and aisles of desks where people are cutting away at jewels, shaping them, and etching upon them until their eyes and fingers start hurting.
But the largest area in the talan is dominated by a central washbasin and counters full of velvet boxes for delivery. A fiery furnace is melting metals down in a corner, and there are not only aisles of desks but also aisles of boxes made out of glass and silver slings. Here, people are actually crafting the body of the final jewel and preparing the jewelry for delivery. Headdress sets, necklaces, and rings scatter the area, all ready for their delivery.

Here is the descriptions in a little more depth of what each of our departments do:
Designers
Our task is to design the pieces of jewelry that are ordered (other than replications). In such we fully describe the item to be made (size, shape, colours, gem placements, etc) in much the same way you would if you were describing the item itself to someone in order to paint a picture in their mind. Once you have finished the design you hand it on to the Gem cutters.
Gem Cutters
Our job is to create the gemstone from the designs given to us. In order to do this we select the appropriate gem of a suitable size and proceed to delicately cut it into the faceted gem required. The more facets wanted the more cutting there is to do. Expert and skillful hands and eyes are a must for this position as even the tiniest error can cause a costly mistake. After having cut the gem, you then need to polish it so that it is ready for the Crafter. Once finished you then proceed to hand the finished gemstone(s) and the design to the Crafter.
Crafters
Our job is to take the design and the finished gemstones and place them together. To do this we select the material specified in the design (gold, silver, etc) and shape it according to what is on the design (eg into a butterfly shape if that is what the design calls for). Once you have the general shape done, the next task is to prepare the mountings for the gemstones. These are the bits that hold the gemstone(s) in place. Finally we place the gemstone(s) into their settings, taking extra special care not to damage the gems (gem cutters hate having to redo a piece of work that may have taken them a long time to do!). Finally you add in the final touches such as clasps, etc. Like Gem Cutters, expert and skillful hands and eyes are a must for this position as even the tiniest error can cause a costly mistake. Finally you polish the item and jewelry before passing the completed item to the Reception area.
Replications
Our job is to make copies of existing pieces of jewelry for people if they require them. Things such as the brooches Galadriel gave the fellowship, the various rings different people had, tiaras and headpieces that they wore etc. As such we are a combination of gemcutter and crafter, whereas those two departments do specialized orders, our tasks is straight copies of items.
