Welcome to the Lothlórien Thief Hunt! An item of great value has been taken from the realm of the Lord Celeborn and Lady Galadriel. What, who, and where the thief is hiding him or herself we don’t yet know! However hope remains, for a group of valiant hunters has gathered to track down the criminal. It will not be easy however...

This thief hunt is different than many others you may have seen. The twenty four hunters that have gathered in hopes of catching the thief will be spilt into three groups of eight. They will then be assigned to one of three grids, A, B, or C, each with it’s own traps, pitfalls and clues which lie in certain squares.

When a player reaches the end of the grid, which is the H column, they will get one guess as to who the thief is, what they stole, and where they are hiding. After all players have reached the end of the grid a clue will be given, and after all players who reached the end of the grid have made a guess, those who got at least one of the three items (Who, what, or where) correct will move on to the next round, anyone who does not is eliminated until the next Thief Hunt begins.

In round two there are only two grids (A and B), also with traps and clues placed in certain squares. When a player reaches the end they get two guesses. Another clue is given, and the same elimination process is done with those who get one item correct. There is then a final round where only one grid exists, and the players who reach the end of the last grid will have three guesses at who, what, and where.

HALL OF FAME
(Past Winners)

Game 1
LorienElfmaiden (Lothlorien)

For the first game of the Thief Hunt in its current incarnation, the hunters had to make their way through a forest to track down the thief. Many normal forest inhabitants were encountered, but a few had some of the more unusual transportation by eagle encounters. In the end, it was LorienElfmaiden who determined that Master Herdir was the wily thief and that he stole the Viewing Glass from the Stargazers and was hiding in the Garment Crafters Talan.

Game 2
Brillonnien (Lothlorien)
Nimaroel (Lothlorien)

The second game was full of surprises. The venue was essentially the same as the first game, beginning in the forest and then moving up amid the telain of Lothlorien. Nimaroel and Brillonnien braved the hunt, but little did they either expect the random Guards they ran into to suddenly make declarations of everlasting love. Alas, the smitten Guards were turned down as both maidens continued on their journey to hunt down Menthol, who had stolen a Silver Coin from the Tribute Hall and was hiding in Caras Galadhon.

Game 3
Nimaroel (Lothlorien)

Game three opened in a new location, the Brown Lands. None of the hunters seemed overly enthused to enter such a dry and unwelcoming area, but they all put their preferences aside in order to make the hunt. Oliphaunts, fights with Easterlings, and even a sudden downpour that turned the dry region into a sudden raging river area all made their journey that much harder. But in the end, it was the intrepid Nimaroel who hunted down Menthol yet again (chronic little thief, isn’t she?). This time she had stolen the Viewing Glass from the Stargazers and was hiding at The Hythe.

Game 4
Galderon (Lothlorien)
Istya Alassea (The Shire)
Anayaru (Lothlorien)

Game four saw the hunters traveling to Minas Tirith to begin their search. Making it into the city was not hard, but along the way several of the hunters of the thief were actually mistaken for the thief themselves by the Guards of the city. Those Guards turned out to be more dangerous than anyone could have thought, as they tried to apprehend several of the hunters and actually did detain some of the Elves. But in the end, Galderon, Istya Allassea, and Anayaru all managed to make the journey through Minas Tirith and back to the Golden Wood where they caught Firien, who had stolen the Riddle Book from Nimrodel’s Glade and was hiding at the Stone Road.

Game 5
LorienElfmaiden (Lothlorien)
Nimaroel (Lothlorien)
Dinledhwen (Lothlorien)

Game five saw the hunt move on to the Shire. And while the Hobbits are generally known as a friendly folk, they did not seem to care for having a bunch of foreigners moving amongst their lands. One hunting elleth even found herself lassoed by a Hobbit during the quest and carted off. Yes! The Hobbits actually resorted to Elf-knapping! But with the help of friends, she got loose. And in the end, it was veteran hunters LorienElfmaiden, Nimaroel and Dinledhwen who came home with the win. They knew that Riki Tiki Tavi had stolen the Banner from the Hollow and had attempted to hide out at Cerin Amroth.

Game 6
Mystalica (Lothlorien)

Game six found the hunters maneuvering through the very inhospitable lands of Mordor. If ever there was a place that a thief would fit right in, this was certainly it. Ash and smoke, bats and Yrch, even one lovestruck Orc who attempted to woo one of the Elleths only to have his own significant other turn on him and, in true Mordor fasion, attempt to kill him all dotted the landscape. But the hunters made it through and in the end Mystalica turned up the winner. Mireth Guilbain had stolen a Crystal Vase from the Gardens and was eventually found at the Lawn of Lorien.

Game 7
Amalric (Lothlorien)

Game seven brought on new challenges for our hunters as they journeyed to Isengard in the hopes of finding clues. Making their way first to and then within the tower of Orthanc, they dodged falling Palantiri and dragons alike. Yet finally it was Amalric that stood victorious as he correctly determined that Naurloth was the thieving Elleth this time. She stole a Sword from the Forges and tried to hide in the Talan of the Guard but was, of course, apprehended and made to pay for her crimes.

Game 8
Lothlaure Uluithiad (Lothlorien)

Game eight saw the hunters entering the mines of Khazad-dum. This turned out to be probably the most arduous of hunts ever, as in pairs and singles; the hunters disappeared into the gloom of the mines not to be seen again within its realms. At the end there was just one very lonely Elleth left to continue the hunt, but persevere she did. Through sheer grit and determination, Lothlaure finally met up with the two Huntmistresses and claimed the win. The thief this time was Antolycus, and that crafty Ellon had the nerve to steal a Lamp from the Lawn and hid out at the Talan of the Guard.

Game 9
Hakatri (Lothlorien)
Dincairwen (Lothlorien)
Lothlaure (Lothlorien)
Amalric (Lothlorien)
Aiwe Nenharma (Lothlorien)

Game nine brought the hunters to Mirkwood, braving the murky forest in search of yet another thief. With a visit from Legolas, deep pits, and song-requesting spiders, they really had a task cut out for them. In the end, after making it all the way to Thranduil's Halls, Tari Avalonde was discovered to be the thief by Hakatri, Dincairwen, Lothlaure, Amalric, and Aiwe. The group of hunters also found out that the thief stole a Racing Fox and chose the Ann-Thennath as her hideout.

Game 10
Shadowheart/Nenedhel (Lothlorien)

Game ten had the hunters riding down the river from Mirkwood to Esgaroth on top of barrels in pursuit of the thief. The hunters faced many challenges, including whirlpools, angry dwarves, and a nasty sea-witch seeking revenge. The soaking wet hunters arrived in Dale where Nenedhel correctly identified Brillonnien as the thief. The sneaky elleth had stolen a Dagger from the Training Grounds and was hiding out at the Healing Houses of Lothlorien.

Game 11
Uruviel Lowen (Lothlorien)

To Rohan the hunters went for Game 11. The locals weren't too friendly, and with stampeding horses and rampaging badgers, the hunters sure had their work cut out for them as they made their way toward the Golden Hall! But in the end, it was Uruviel who guessed that the thief this time was Nulda Elbilin. This ellon stole the Silver Arrow, and was hiding in the Elfling Talan.
