Inter-Kingdom Drill Team
Right now you must be asking yourself "What the heck is the inter-kingdom drill team?". Well, simply put, the IK DT is a group of Minions devoted to lore who compete against similar teams from other kingdoms to test their knowledge of the Master’s works.
Each match consists of five questions for either team. In the IK DT questions can come from any source that was written by Tolkien and relates to Middle-earth. Each team then has 24 hours to work out their respective questions and post the answers they believe to be correct. If at the end of these 24 hours a team has not submitted a question or the officiant of the match deems the answer to be incorrect then the opposing team has 6 hours to post what they believe the answer to be in order to steal the point. The team with the most points at the end of the five questions wins the match and earns two points to add to their overall standings within the DT League.
If, however, the score is tied after the five questions then subsequent tie-breaker questions will be asked. Only one of these are asked at a time and both teams must answer the same question, e-mailing their answers to the officiant. Sometimes matches can go on for very long (there were 21 tie-breaker questions in a recent match!) and sometimes not, but in either case it is usually a sign that both teams are superb drillers.
The IK DT’s third season has recently come to a close with a first-round playoff loss to the Men of Gondor. Mordor did not, however, go down without a fight. We had a long and ardous season and did fairly well, in fact.
