1 LANOG

One day an Olgalt was born. Olgalts are a very ancient people. They love quietness,
which could be why the live in caves. Olgalts are almost anonymous to the outside world. Only
remembered in myths. They are a small people. A little bit taller than Dwarves. They have
hair all over their body except for their tails which are unusually long. Their eyes tend to
bulge out of their faces but let's get back to the story.

This Olgalt was very unnatural indeed. What it was that made him so unusual was that
he was amazingly tall. Towering over any other Olgalt in his tribe. He had to duck to be able
to get into any door in his cave. No one could explain this, not even his parents.

His name was Lanog. Lanog the Lift people always would call him. Since his head
lifted above all others in his tribe.

One fine evening when the weather was not so good Lanog was sent on a chore for his
parents. They had told him "We are short on food and none other but yourself is strong
enough to put up with this weather. We need you to go down the mountainside and fetch us
us any food you can find." Of course Lanog willingly accepted this since he always
wanted to please his parents as much as possible. This was because they had always been
ashamed at how eccentric their son was.

So off Lanog flew down the side of the mountain. The rain lashing down so hard he
didn't even notice his tribe packing up their items and getting ready for a long hike to
where they would set up a new home.

Now Lanog was down so far he couldn't even see his tribe's cave anymore. Lanog
looked for hours finding no food. Finally he saw a rabbit and tracked it down and killed
it but realised he was so ravenous he ate it right there. Lanog thought to himself about what
would happen if he went back to his tribe with nothing. He realised that there was nothing
he could do and had to go back no matter what his parents might say.

Right back up the mountain he went, the same way he had come down. He actually
spotted some berries on his way and picked them. After that he stopped worrying and was happy
again since he thought how proud his parents would be.

As soon as he got back up to the mountain all his worries came rushing back.
Lanog had walked in his cave expecting a warm weclome when it hit him. He had been sent down
the mountain so his tribe could abandon him. He was so aghast at this that he actually
started following their trail, hoping to find them again. Even though he knew that would be
impossible to do.

He was so shocked by his tribe's antics that he thought to himself: If they abandon
me, I will abandon their way of life. So instead of living high in caves he went down low to
the swamps.

Lanog journeyed to a swamp that he had been familiar with from his childhood. He
decided that it would be his new home.

He first got his new home ready. He made it out of sticks, shrubs and rocks, using
mud to keep it together. Lanog also learned the great skill of hunting, which would now be
how he would provide himself now with food.

When Lanog had lived in his swamp for a very long time, almost 70 years (which
actually in Olgalt time is not that long since they live to be around 300 years old), he
was out hunting since his supply of food was running low. Suddenly he heard some
voices. Lanog was very surprised and scared, since there had never been anything in his
swamp except for him and the animals.

Lanog noticed that there were two people standing at the entrance of his swamp. Also
that they were probably a little smaller than Lanog. Lanog heard one say, "Let's get this
over with as soon as possible."
"This is very important. We’ve been sent here to find one called Lanog to aid us on our
quest" said the other.
The words hit Lanog, and he didn't know what to think. They were talking about him.
