How to Cower Correctly and So Save Your Life

Interlude 2
Speeches. Well, sometimes they work...

There is not much to comment on about speeches. They can indeed sway the unwary listener, usually to the effect of conning them out of their money, belongings, or dignity, as the case may be.

A note to the eager speech-maker, however. As outlined in the preceding chapter, excessive use of any of your speeches to the same people in a given span of time (this is generally equal to the memory power of the listeners, and is represented by the formula L=m[mn] where m is the average memory span of the listeners, n is the number of people present at your last speech, and L gives the duration in days before you can safely make another oration) is not good. Space your speeches at regular intervals, an ideal arrangement is to give one speech a month, on the evening after army wages have been paid out to your audience.
