Behaviour Patterns of the Mordor Cave Troll

Mythical wild man of the wood; printer's mark of Günther Zainer
From Medieval Woodcuts - see Picture Credits

Here is yet another helpful hint from your denizen of Mordor, Grishnak. Unofficial, self-proclaimed expert on the wildlife in Mordor. Let’s look at the Mordor cave troll. First let me state that cave trolls dwelling elsewhere have not been observed by yours truly, and their behavior patterns may not be typical of cave trolls here in the Dark Land.

Now, first note that like the Nazgûl, the Mordor cave troll is not, I repeat, not a social creature. Upon seeing you they are likely to smash your head into the ground, then ask questions later. The Mordor cave troll is not very bright, so again, do not attempt to strike up a conversation with one. Their thoughts pretty much follow this basic pattern: "Wake up..kill something...eat it..wander around to see what can kill ...sleep again...wake up...kill something..." You get the idea.

The Mordor cave troll will eat pretty much anything, from fresh meat to garbage. But it prefers fresh meat since that needs to be killed first. The Mordor cave troll, although gray-skinned like the caverns and tunnels it lives in, is easy to spot. Just look for a 12-15 foot tall, 2500lb gray walking wall of muscle and you have found one.
