Mordorian Trench Worm

This is a special breed of worm often used by the armies of Mordor as trench diggers, whole diggers, even used to dig tunnels that the army uses to infiltrate enemy camps and forts. It is naturally a larger sized worm, adult Trench Worms can grow up to 65 feet long, can be up to 8 feet in diameter, and can weigh up to 35,000 pounds. The Trench Worm has 4 huge mandibles, that form the shape of an x when they are opened, that it uses to rip out large amounts of earth that it eats. Trench worms are covered in a thick leathery hide that is usually colored black or gray.

Trench Worms are usually seen in captivity, due to there subterranean nature, but can be found in the wild, and are known to act very aggressive. They will eat anything from cave trolls to dirt, and have been known to swallow bands of orcs in one gulp, armor and all. This is how the Trench Worm came to be used by Mordors armies. It tears out large chunks of earth and devours them leaving large crevices that can be used as trenches. When under ground it can make a tunnel large enough for a hunched over cave troll to fit in. In the wild Trench worms are generally found in the dry plains of Mordor and tend to avoid highlands and anywhere else that large formations of stone can be found. It is no wonder they are only found in Mordor.
