Were-worms are a wingless kind of dragon. They mostly resemble Cold-drakes. However, they are a little bit longer and slender. Were-worms have spell-casting abilities as wells as the ability to alter their form by increasing or decreasing its size by as much as fifty percent of its mass. They use this ability to elude or overwhelm their enemies. Were-worms use shape shifting as their main weapon because they lack the ability to use breath as a weapon. They have been known to live in the Red Mountains and the Mountains of the Wind. There is confusion about the identity of a true Were-worm. Tales told by the Hobbits confuse Were-worms with another kind of dragon known as the Sand-drake. This confusion occurs because Sand-drakes also are shape-shifters.
