A Spy report from Fangorn

As I had found out I had a unique talent for slipping through heavily guarded areas, I decided to go to Fangorn to see what I could find out there. Knowing the hatred the ents have for orcs, I figured this would be a good place to find any weapons that would present a threat to Mordor.

I went in disguise again, this time as a huorn. My aim was to get to the center of the forest, where the last known Entmoot was located. After reaching it without seeing so much as a sign of any living thing, I decided to just to come straight out and look around. There was nothing in the Entmoot meeting area, just a lot of old rootish looking tracks, which i did not bother to follow. So I left that area, and began looking a little farther into the woods. I was searching for just about anything that looked suspicious, or anything that was alive. Heavy security was no problem, but just no one at all, well that bothered me. After scouring the area for a long while, I finally found something of interest, though not really promising. It was a cave-like entrance in the side of a small hill covered in trees. I figured this to be some kind of Ent dwelling, so I carefully went inside. Once in, I found out that the opening was a lot more than just a shallow cave, there were three tunnel openings at the back. I was about to go in the one on my immediate right, when from the one right in front of me I heard an exclamation of surprise. Thinking I had been found out, I quickly hid in a crevice in the cave wall. No one came out of the tunnel though, so I quietly went back to the tunnel, and that’s when I heard the long, bellowing speech of a large group of Ents, talking excitedly. Well knowing that Ents are almost impossible to get excited, I knew that something big was going on. However, I also know that when Ents get excited, they are also very dangerous. So I coninued down the tunnel, stopping every once in a while so as to not be detected. But there was no one or no thing watching the tunnel, so I proceeded with a little more speed. I finally saw a little light at the end, and when I reached it, I found myself in a clearing with huge rocky pinnacles, obviously impossible to climb, on each side. "Ah," I thought, "The Ents have grown careless without any enemies. That plays into my hand nicely..." I went into the clearing a little ways, and saw it make a sharp turn to the left. I carefully rounded this bend, and I couldn’t believe my eyes. All the ents were in the clearing, apparently dancing around tall spiked tower of gold! How strange! Now I’ve neglected to mention it was a very stormy day, and the clouds overhead were very threatning. Anyway, as I stood dumbfounded watching this weird spectacle, which seemed VERY un-entlike, I noticed that they had a cage in the corner of the clearing, in which was apparantly a scavenger. Taking a closer look, I also noticed the body of another one, laying tied up next to the tall tower. Something was wrong with it though. It looked as if it had been burned to death, but only a small spot on his face was black. While I was noticing these things, the ents went over to the remaining scavenger, and brought it, it too bound, to the tower in the clearing. I was wondering what kind of torture they were going to do with it, but all they did was set it in a chair next to the tower, then backed a looonngg way away. The next second, an increadible thing happened. As if by a signal, a HUGE lightning bolt fell from the sky, right onto the tower.

when, as if by a signal, a HUGE bolt of lightning fell from the sky, right onto the tower! I was momentarily blinded by the flash, and then temporarily deafened by the colossal crash of the thunder. The effects wore off shortly, and a seen of confusion met my eyes. The ents had once again started excitedly rumbling to each other, and one or two of the younger ents were positively being very hasty with their words. The older ents did not even notice apparently, as they were closing in on the scene of carnage. If carnage you could call it. What had happened in that split second could be easily figured out from the result. The chair, having been only about a meter from the tower, was thrown across the little glade, a distance of some twenty meters, and smashed against the side of the cliff. The scavanger, however, had obviously fallen out of the chair in mid-air, and landed about half the distance to the cliff walls which compromised the side of the clearing. He was quite dead, but the only mark to be observed upon him was a small black mark on his face. I quickly cleared out of Fangorn, being scared out of my mind of this seemingly magical power finding me out, and falling on me in the same manner. Let me just warn the populace that if you ever see a tall spiked golden tower, run for your life.
