Akilah

Plaza Life

From Near Harad came a rather peculiar woman named Akilah. She is one of the Haradwaith, a Southron. Cruel through and through she is a true member of the Haradrim race. As a child she was born and raised in one of the smaller tribes in Near Harad close to Umbar. She had been fostered by a solitary man who had been an outcast at the time she came into his care. There had never been any sign of her parents and she had been found as a baby on the edge of a watering hole. Her appearance gave way that she was indeed conceived by one of the Haradrim and she had been accepted among them. For many years she grew up to become a hunter and brought back many creatures, for it was one of her talents that she had an understanding between herself and animals. Of course she favoured serpents most and would often bring these back. Up until the age of twenty or so she had grown into a strong tall woman. Her skin was dark and glistened and her eyes were as dark as the night with not a single light within them. Her long black dreadlocked hair surrounded her body in many beads and her face was covered in ritual tattoos, along with the entire top of her body.

She was not pretty but magnificent, her body was lean but muscular and she covered great distances on bare feet alone, for never had she even considered wearing shoes of any kind. From distances she could be heard as her body was covered in many golden items, from bracelets to a nose ring, which she often twisted when nervous. She was cold at heart and cared for nobody and eventually left the man who raised her to become an outcast herself. Then one night the chief’s son broke into her home and tried to assault her. With all her might she had struggled to fight him off and in anger she grabbed a dagger and pierced the very flesh covering his heart, killing him instantly. Unfortunately a Southron nearby had heard the struggle and upon seeing what had occurred had raised the alarm. With all her haste Akilah had grabbed the spear she owned, a deep red cloak and ran as fast as her feet could be carried before they could catch her and kill her, for killing the chief’s son was enough to get her tortured and killed in the most gruesome manner possibly. And so she had run for many days without food or drink, passing through Khand into Mordor where she knew she would be accepted as a servant.

There she swore an allegiance to the dark lord and moved into one of the empty caves at the tail of the Ephel Duath. Never would she be able to return to Harad for should she return she would do so upon pain of death. Many years she would live in the caves with naught but herself, driving her to shere madness. Some thought she was a witch of sorts or a prophecy foreteller. Akilah certainly did try to tell prophecies but she could not, she merely thought so. She now walked everywhere with all sorts of herbs in her hair and chanting obscure words to surrounding people. On better days she was, however as cruel and callous and usual. No patience has she for inferiors and one wrong word would kill them at the very spot. The woman used nothing but her spear for killing unless you could her bare hands, which she favoured most when convenient.

The only thing that Akilah was dedicated to was the Dark Lord and his army and so skilled was she as a warrior that one day she had been asked to take the position of Maugân after having served as Gushir very briefly. For that moment in time she had lived in the Morannon until become Sauron's very own personal assistant. When she had been discarded by him she had returned to the caves only to come out when there was a chance of receiving gold and perhaps having the odd drink or two. She did of course have no friends and though there were some she might consider drinking buddies she would slaughter them in an instant if there was reason too. A most peculiar character is this southron and is best left to her own devices.

Real Life

Generally people call me Landy. I live in the U.K. where I am currently studying law at Kingston University. Though I live in the U.K, I’m actually half Dutch and have lived there for around 16 years (I’m now 22). When I was 12 I first picked up Lord of the Rings purely for the fact that I wanted to know what the difference was between that and Lord of the Flies. I read both, forgot about the latter but became engrossed with Lord of the Rings and Tolkien ever since that moment. I’ve been on the Plaza for almost 4 years now and am blessed at having found it. It has provided me with the chance to talk about Tolkien and his works with other nuts, something I could never do with my RL friends who hadn’t even read Lord of the Rings. I came to Mordor early in my plaza life and have found the place quite to my liking and will probably do so for the remainder of my Plaza life. I even met my boyfriend Sci on the Plaza, something I’ll always be grateful for. I enjoy going to the pub, cinema, going out for meals, playing on my guitar, hanging out with friends, reading, gaming and generally rocking to the likes of Thin Lizzy, AC/DC, aerosmith and of course my favourite artist of all time David Bowie. A few words to describe me would probably include: Scatty, blunt, happy go lucky, aggressive and peculiar.
