Byg Sci

Plaza Life

Each age of middle Earth has created its own evil, its own forces of Darkness, and its own great enemy. Usually this is met with the equal and opposite reaction of some great power of good, but occasionally this goes wrong. Every once in a while evil is met with evil, darkness with darkness, every once in a while something like Byg Sci happens. Every once in a while the universe messes up, it creates an unbalanced equation, a random variable, something that it cannot control. It creates something like Byg Sci that does not adhere to normal rules of universe or matter, an outsider. And every once in a while someone like Byg Sci knows this, and exploits it to his advantage.

No-one knows where Byg Sci came from, least of all him. His history is shrouded in darkness and confusing dreams that haunt him in the deep of night. His oldest surviving memory is waking up in the middle of a desert in Far Harad, wounded, and lost and carrying nothing but a half empty water bottle. Since then his life has become one of stealth and intrigue. Soon after he awoke he discovered his natural aptness for stealth, combat, and assassination. Seeking to capitalize on this, he began to hire his talents out to various Haradrim warlords in order to gain money and build up his contacts. However along the way something went wrong.

Somewhere along the road he must have asked the wrong people the wrong questions. And they didn’t seem to be too happy about that. He didn’t know who they were, but they came after him, and they came after him hard. At first he tried to run, tried to shake them. But it never worked; they were always one step ahead of him. No matter where he went “they” always found him. And then he started to fight back.

He didn’t know when he decided to fight back, but the next time that someone came after him he was ready. He fought back, fought against the one who came for him. And then he interrogated him, he got a location. Somewhere in South Gondor. Upon arriving at the location he found an old fortress, decayed with time and the elements. It was empty. Empty except for one thing. Deep beneath the fortress he had found a box. A small black box with a book inside. The book contained five names, and next to each the names was a picture and a number. 1-Jendt-A young elvish woman. 2-Hrandon-A Gondorian and the man that Byg had interrogated and killed. 3-Keldor-An Istari. 4-Narce-An Uruk-hai. And finally 5-Byg Sci- A dark Númenórean. That was the first time that Byg had learnt of his name. He knew it was him because it was his picture next to the name. He took the book and left, and after that the attacks stopped. People stopped chasing him and Byg didn’t pursue his history any further.

However, later on in his life he came to Mordor, he was drawn there somehow; it held some intense calling for him. He spent several years there, killing for money and building up contacts until one day something happened. Something unexpected. He saw someone whose face he remembered. Narce, the Uruk-hai. Number four. His first instinct was to follow him, question him, and see what answers he could provide. But it turned out that Narce was looking for him. He managed to track Byg down to his room above the pub, and there they talked.

Narce claimed that he knew who Byg was, what he was. He knew Byg’s history and he wanted to help. He knew that Byg had lost his memory, and he knew that people had tried to track him down and kill him. He also claimed that he knew why they had stopped as well. He claimed that Byg had been part of an elite assassination unit, and that he had been sent to Far Harad on a mission. He had never returned. Reports came back saying that he had been killed before his task had been completed and the matter was left like that. At least it had been left like that until Byg showed up again. Once people realized that Byg was alive they decided to eliminate him on the off chance that he might have dangerous knowledge that he intended to use against them. Either that or he’d try to bring down the people who had made him what he was. He was a weapon that had cost millions of pieces of gold, and in his master’s eyes he was malfunctioning, he needed to be put down. Then he located the old training facility, located the contact book. Because of that assassination attempts were stopped. It was a stale mate situation. They had failed to kill him and they were frightened that with the knowledge in the book, he could have used that book to track them down and destroy them. As a result they decided to let him go. But now things had changed.

Narce told Byg that the organization that he had once worked for had undergone certain changes. Its three surviving members were all targets now. Narce. Byg, and Keldor. He then told Byg who ran the organization, the Elf called Jendt. Apparently she had called the assassination unit a success and it was now ready to be implemented on a wider scale. The only problem was that no-one was to know about it. And for that to happen then the surviving members needed to die. Once Narce had told Byg that information he left. He said that he’d be back in a few days once Byg had had time to assimilate the information. And then they’d think of something to do. Narce never came back, but his body was found in Lake Nurnen a week later. After that Byg decided to get out in the public view, go somewhere where he would be easily missed - where people would notice a disappearance. And that was how he came to be the owner of Baradae, within its stone walls he was protected by its guards, and his Ravens, Thought and Memory, were able to bring him news on Mordor and search for the one surviving member of the group, Keldor. The one person who could potentially hold all of the answers. However, he has yet to find Keldor and because of that he remains in Baradae, traveling out from time to time, always watching, and always wary. And always seeking the answers to three important questions:
Who was I?
What happened to me?
What am I going to do?

Real Life

I am Byg Sci. I am the hand that writes upon the page, the words upon the wind. I come from my homeland in Belgium, and when my Novel is released any that do not read it shall suffer in ignorance. I have fought the accursed work of Adware and Spyware and still my computer survives. I can quote Babylon 5 with my eyes closed, and follow the plots of Alias while reading Dune. I know what TARDIS stands for and I hold firm in my belief that Blake’s 7 is the greatest TV show ever. Many have tried to imitate me and none have succeeded. I have had my tie stuck in the escalator that leads from the houses of Parliament to Portcullis house and I have survived. I went to see “To Kill a Mockingbird” at the Hull New Theatre, and I got through the entire production without resorting to suicide (but it was a close thing). In my eyes Meat Loaf rules all and I have made sure that everyone around me knows that. I am Byg Sci, hear me snore.
