The
Minion Parliament
The War against the Elves
Minion Parliament, Session 1 Report: War with Lothlorien
The first session of the
Minion Parliament was an important one. It was not to form or alter law, nor was
it to determine policies. It was to lay out the preparations for war. The Elven
Kingdom of Lothlorien. being new and still in its early stages of development,
was an appetizing target. The question posed was this: How exactly should Mordor
prepare for this war? Should it attack while Lothlorien is still weak, or
continue to gain intelligence while Lothlorien continues to strengthen itself?
On December 29, 2003, Morgorth opened the
Parliament, allowing the minions to set themselves up, announce Cabinet
positions, and prepare thir arguments. Supporting the immediate declaration of
war and commencement of hostilities was the majority party of Cirith Ungol,
headed by Prime Minion Raven Aníron. Her cabinet was composed of Deputy
Prime Minion Urkag, Scrawler Dark SnoGoon, and Foreign Minion Arinion.
The Shadow, or minority, party of Minas Morgul was headed by Shadow Prime Minion
Sepheroth. His cabinet was composed of Shadow Deputy Prime Minion Inzilbeth,
Shadow Scrawler Umarth, and Shadow Foreign Minion Nameless One. Lulani
was appointed as Whip.
From the very beginning it was easily seen that
the Cirith Ungol party was highly organized. The majority party had its Cabinet
announced a full five days before Minas Morgul had decided on theirs. Because of
Minas Morgul’s inability to make a prompt announcement, Morgorth ended up
beginning the debate before the Shadow cabinet could announce itself. On January
4, 2004, the first session of the Minion Parliament began. Seizing the
initiative, Cirith Ungol made many strong points favoring immediate action.
These included: (direct excerpts in blue)
•Our garrisons are as strong
and organized as they have ever been. In contrast, Lothlorien's army is still
forming itself.
•Mordor has the aid of many
in-house groups with specialized military forces, including the elite soldiers
of Project Mayhem and the wisdom and craftiness of the Mordini, to give a couple
of examples.
•The people of Lothlorien are
new in working together, with some converting from races that hate each other
and all, and we have a distinct advantage.
•Who will help Lothlorien
when we attack? Rivendell cannot aid them. Why would they? To see their lost
elves return to them, they would welcome that. The White Council has no army.
Fangorn sleeps. The Hobbits are on the wrong side of Rivendell. Khazad-dum would
never help an elven kingdom. And the race of men can be convinced to sit still
easily enough. Lothlorien will be alone, and alone it cannot stand against us.
But that will change if it has time to establish proper diplomacy with other
kingdoms.
Also discussed were possible attacking formations,
possible tactics and systems of alliances. The formations and tactics are as of
now unclear, and responses to all alliance propositions are still pending.
Minas Morgul had trouble opposing these arguments.
Instead it focused on defending its position against Cirith Ungol’s
statements. Unfortunately, in the process the Shadow party failed to make a
strong case for itself, as many of its own points were successfully refuted by
the majority Cabinet. During the course of the entire debate, Minas Morgul only
managed to gain one vocal supporter from all of the Morannon, which is a poor
result considering that a garrison contains 20 minions.
When Morgorth closed the session on January 9,
2004, in order to commence with the voting, it was clear that Cirith Ungol had
come prepared to defend its position, something less easily seen in the other
parties. Perhaps it is a sign of things to come.

Minion
Parliament
Session 1
Synopsis: Confrontation at the Golden Wood
Immediate
Aggression vs. Elongated Reconnaissance and Intel
With the opening of the first ever unprecedented Minion Parliament, the first
issue at hand was one of immense controversy among the minions. Should the
horde of the Eye opt for immediate hostility or should the duration for the
accumulation of reconnaissance and intel be extended? The question that many
minions have been discussing among themselves will finally be answered.
This issue dates back to the addendum made by Eru as
Lothlorien, the prominent realm of Lord Celeborn and Galadriel, was declared
an official kingdom on the plaza. Consequently, this occurrence immediately
stirred much negative response from the minions. A contagious sensation
quickly circulated throughout Mordor like a wildfire. Soon enough, thoughts of
war were already brooding in the minds of the minions as well as the Dark
Lords. It was evident that Mordor were not willing to stand by idly as it
witnesses the creation of another Elven kingdom. On December 29, 2003 (7
Afteryule in the Shire Reckoning), minions from all thee garrisons congregated
in their respective party at Barad-dur putting the question to debate as well
as putting the credibility of the Minion Parliament to the test.
The session commenced with Cirith Ungol, being the
majority party, having the floor. Minas Morgul, being the minority party,
follows their lead. In the meanwhile, the Morannon, otherwise refer to as the
backstabbers, watch on in the background considering the views and concepts
being put forth by both garrisons. As the session progress, it became apparent
that the Morannon had directed their support toward Minas Morgul and
lobbied for a brief extension from the actual confrontation date where
the spies in the service of Morgorth can continue their
reconnaissance of Lothlorien. Their proposal was based on three key concepts:
1)
The Lothlorien Guard preconceived Mordor’s intentions toward their new
kingdom from day one. Training activities have already begun. Closer
examination of their formation and training manner are essential.
2)
Not one minion alive knows the directions around the Golden Wood nor the
landmarks that is within it. Devising the battle plans without knowledge of
the terrain shall jeopardize the horde.
3)
The elves excel in both quantity and quality. Therefore, knowledge of
unit deployments is essential as well.
Throughout the course of the debate, the majority Cabinet reiterated
themselves repetitively claiming that the opportune moment is at hand and that
Mordor must nip the problem in the bud before the elves inevitably flourish
into a strong entity. This argument did not influence the backstabbers. It was
clear that the majority Cabinet had overlooked the necessary procedures that
will guarantee Mordor victory in the endeavor.
The session eventually diverted into an irrelevant discussion of
potential stratagems and battle plans, which will be determined pending on the
result of this debate. At exactly 0950 hours, Morgorth ended the session on

Minion
Parliament
Session 1: Lothlorien Invasion
On the 29th of December our
Lord Sauron established what will be a make in Mordor history for years to
come, the first ever Minion Parliament was created. The first order of
business was to take action against the recent population of Lothlorien.
Cirith Ungol took the position on initiating attack immediately. Minas Morgul
and the Morannon shared the view on a premeditated strike. Arguements presented
by Cirith Ungol concerning the course of action to be taken included:
- The inexperience of
Lothlorien as a whole which can be considered as a weakness.
- The numbers of the
Galadhrim are vastly encompassed by Mordor's.
- The obvious strength and
cunning of the armies of the land of shadow an ash.
These were all argued without
reserve save the final which is obvious to all. The Shadow government (Minas
Morgul) and the Backstabbers (the Morannon) then retaliated with the
following.
- Lothlorien is aware of
Mordor's planned assault and to rush an offensive would be suicide.
- The vastness of the golden
wood is unknown to all save a few minions and it would be impossible to
succesfully navigate without consulting various sources for information.
- The ever growing power of
the Galadhrim guard, which using simple guerilla tactics could use the
landscape of thier residence to relieve Mordor of the advantage of
numbers.
The debate was ended on the
9th of Janaury and requires a vote to decide the action to be taken.
