....Thráin had been taken alive and brought to the pits of Dol Guldur.
There he was tormented and the Ring taken from him, and there at last he died.
So Thorin Oakenshield became the Heir of Durin, but an heir without hope...
he thought of weapons and armies and alliances, as his great hammer rang
in his forge ; but the armies were dispersed and the alliances broken
and the axes of his people were few ; and a great anger without hope
burned him as he smote the red iron on the anvil.
~ Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings : Appendix A - Part III : Durin's Folk
In the year TA 2841, Thráin - the King of Durin's Folk - departed from the mountains of Forlindon which the refugees of the Lonely Mountain had fled to ; his plan was to revisit Erebor but the Dwarven ruler and his band of proud, faithful companions became opposed by a myriad of misfortunes and were pursued by the servants of Sauron. Thráin was inevitably captured at last and was tortured in Dol Guldur at Mirkwood ; the Ring of Power he wore was taken from him.
Meanwhile in Lindon, Thorin, believing his sire had been killed in Mirkwood when his fellows brought back news they could not find him, Oakenshield took the mantle of King of Durin's Folk and made life better for his people in the Ered Luin but he could never forget the fall of the Lonely Mountain and neither did his fury abate. He dreamed of grand alliances and war. The wise wizard Gandalf he befriended and together they forged a plan to win back Erebor from Smaug the fire-drake...
In Delusions of Grandeur, the tale of Thráin's doomed quest and Thorin's rise to power will be told.
On the western spur of Dol Amroth is Tirith Aear; the Seaward Tower built as a refuge originally by the Sindar of Edhellond by the order of Lord Amroth. By special permission of Prince Imrahil, here
gather the members of the Story Tellers Guild, who assemble in the highest
room once a month when the huge, slow-ringing bronze bell in the loftiest chamber tolls . Within, bards and scribes craft their tales. The union of writers is the finest in the land and from afar ; no one can doubt its creativity and imagination !
With the beginning of a new thread, the Master of Stories begins a new tale with a few short sentences that introduce a theme, character or object. Each participant then takes
their turn to weave the tale, adding more drama to the narrative.
A new thread, a new month's tale !

On the Rocks, the long-suffering regular pub of Mordor, has shut for some renovations before re-opening under new management. So what are the alcohol-needy residents of the Black Land to do? Fortunately for them (and any.. er.. guests who might be brave enough to wander in), Yérië, the new Pubmistress -and twin sister to former On the Rocks owner Írimë- has managed to set up a temporary pub inside an enormous covered wagon that a raiding party snatched off the North-South Road. Essentially being a huge wooden box with benchlike seats, the wagon was ready made for its new purpose.
All are welcome at the new temporary, and we mean all. Hoppit, elf, man, ent (though you might not fit), squirrel, etc., fancy a sojourn into the pub of evil? Go for it! Just remember that this is Mordor and bad things might happen to you. Don't take it too seriously!
Every spring, Lord Círdan hosts a ball to herald the arrival of the new season and new beginnings. For some unearthly reason, he has decided to task the arrangement of this year's ball to his most unlikely councilor, Davos Seaworth. Davos, being a rake and a scoundrel (and those were the words used in polite company), has decided to put something of a twist on the occasion! The theme of the occasion is to be a Rogues' Ball. The long hall has been dressed up to look like a seedy sailors' tavern- but with none of the stink, rats or old floor-rushes.
Come HERE to join the merriment!
Ost-en-Ernil (The Castle of the Prince)
"And last and proudest , Imrahil, Prince of Dol Amroth, kinsman of the Lord, with gilded banners bearing his token of the Ship and the Silver Swan, and a company of knights in full harness riding grey horses; and behind them seven hundreds of men at arms, tall as lords, grey-eyed, dark-haired, singing as they came."
~ Tolkien, Return of the King : Minas Tirith
Ost-En-Ernil is castle and household of Prince Imrahil, comprising of his private residence and also the main garrison of Dol Amroth. The garrison of Ost-En-Ernil (home to the Swan Knights of Dol Amroth) is housed within the towers that enclose the castle's twin baileys.
Court life at the Prince's Castle is a cycle of entertainments, hunts, and tourneys. Quests, battles against raiding Corsairs and military expeditions in the Prince's service punctuate the Court's pleasures. While waves crash against the cliffs below, the Prince and his nobles feast, toasting one another's heroics with their bejewlled, golden goblets. Knights and their ladies dance in the Great Hall to the melodies of the finest harpers in Gondor. Heroes rise to propose quests to far lands, and challenge one another to joust at forthcoming tourneys, no wonder that even the other Dúnedain find the Prince's Court remarkebly "Elvish."
At Ost-En-Ernil most events revolve around his noble court. Any player may visit the Prince's noble court in Ost-en-Ernil, as long as they roleplay a character who is one of the southern Dúnedain however ! there is a place for evil here. RP'ers may roleplay pirates or brigands or some other nefarious force so that way Swan Knights have antagonists to fight. Espionage from dark side characters may also play here..
Players might also appear as one of the Prince's men-at-arms, entertainers or servants. Players might also appear as the general citizenry of Dol Amroth, whether nobles, merchants, craftsmen or peasants.
This is the RP HERE
Just beyond the borders of the Shire is a land known only as The North Moors. This mysterious land is feared by Hobbits. Few Hobbits have ever braved to travel through this desolate landscape, yet rumours continue to arise of strange happenings. In this empty wasteland odd things occur that transfer Hobbits and visitors into other worlds filled with things that they are surprised to know about.
Sometimes a Hobbit will find themselves in a completely different world and sometimes they will find themselves still in their own. However, with a few flowers springing up here and there as the weather warms up, it seems today a friendlier place. Those who come to this land end up discovering a great deal more about themselves and others. Will you travel to The North Moors?
New questions thread is HERE.
"Riddles were all he could think of. Asking them, and sometimes guessing them, had been the only game he had ever played with other funny creatures sitting in their holes in that long, long ago, before he lost all his friends and was driven away..."
- Tolkien, The Hobbit: Riddles in the Dark

The unthinkable has happened- a group of prisoners have somehow escaped from the Black Pits! This is an extremely rare event, and the Chamber Guard is understandably upset. Not only has the security system of the Dhad Bűrz been thwarted, but it could mean the Guard's own head on the line! Therefore, a substantial reward has been offered for the return of these nefarious escapees. They have managed to stumble their way into the web of tunnels and caverns beneath Ostigurth, and intrepid bounty-hunters have plunged in after them!
This is a MAZE game. A secret maze has been drawn, around preselected corners of which have been dropped traps, hazards, or even helpful things, which will affect you should you walk into them. You may sign up as a Minion, hunting for the escaped prisoners, or as an Escapee. FREEPS are especially encouraged to sign up to play as escapees! Escapee signups are limited to five, minion signups are unlimited.
Will you claim the reward of untold riches? Or will you win your freedom and renown? Go >>HERE<< to find out.
"Such was the virtue of the land of Rivendell that soon all fear and anxiety was lifted from their minds. The future, good or ill, was not forgotten, but ceased to have any power over the present. Health and hope grew strong in them, and they were content with each good day as it came, taking pleasure in every meal, and in every word and song."
- Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring: The Ring Goes South
Midway along the path leading into the secret Valley of Imladris, a single bell-shaped lantern descends from the lowest branch of a solitary pine tree. Casting forth an inviting gold and violet light, undimmed by the time of day, marking the entrance to a smooth dirt road sloping down to the Starlight Inn. Will you venture THERE?
So you thought drill was dead? Hah! As if! In Mordor we like to keep things alive, torture them, make them squeal, and drag them up when it's convenient. Therefore, drill is back, and it's your time to shine. Or... roar. Growl. Grunt. Spew. Whatever your prefer. This game will proceed along similar lines to IR drill. There will be a five day signup period, after which you will be divided into teams. ALL ARE WELCOME, and although roleplay is not required, it is welcome, and it's always funny when freeps and minions are on the same team.
DDD is a themed game, all questions of each match will pertain to a particular theme! The inaugural theme is... EVIL.
Someone -no one is quite sure who- has filched Sauron's palantír. As you might imagine, this has made the Dark Lord very angry, and he wants it back right away. The thief, although their identity is unknown, was caught and.. er... persuaded to reveal the location of the stolen stone. That location being a tiny island in the middle of the Sea of Núrnen. Whether hoping to seek favor or through some fanatical devotion, minions have flocked to its shores in the hopes of retrieving the palantir. There are some conniving Men, however, who think they would do better to steal it- and who knows what may lie in the deeps to prevent you all?
Come join the frolic, where the dice decide your fate and anyone could DIE at any moment. Room for minions, freeps, and plenty of mayhem
Magic 8 Palantir Ball
Unbeknownst to Saruman, Wormtongue has opened up shop in Orthanc....using Saruman’s prized treasure, the Palantir! He’s invited the entire populace inside to have their fortunes told….except he doesn’t quite know how to use it.

Dark and drear it looked...
~ Tolkien, The Hobbit: A Short Rest
The Misty Mountains stretch for nearly eight hundred miles from Mount Gundabad
to Methedras, reared long ago by Morgoth to hinder the riding of Oromë.
The great range has valleys where no king rules and its snow-clad towers are tall and sharp.
Most of its paths are meandering and deceptive, leading to empty places or vile things; most of Hithaeglir's corridors are infested with robbers and dreadful monsters like Wargs, Orcs and Trolls, werewolves and stone-giants.
If it were not for the trusty Beornings, the journey from Dale to Imladris would be impossible; they are valiant wardens in the mountains, keeping the High Pass open and the Ford of Carrock but their tolls are expensive. The warriors of the Halcyon Guard often do their part as well, stamping out as much wickedness as they can in the Misty Mountains.
This is a Free RP thread.
You may explore and ramble throughout the Misty Mountains as you like here.
Often, Aigronding or Sur will provide entertaining prompts that are optional.

Belfalas, or Great Shore, formed a part of Dor-en-Ernil, or the "Land of the Prince". The Prince in question was the Lord of Dol Amroth, who lived at the city bearing his name. At the start of the second millennium of the Third Age, Imrazôr the Númenórean lived in and ruled over Belfalas. He married Mithrellas, a Silvan Elf of Lothlórien, and their half-elven son - Galador - became the first Prince of Dol Amroth. South of Belfalas lay a wide Bay, which was named after it the Bay of Belfalas.
If you dwell in Minas Tirith, travelling distance to Dol Amroth covers easily over 300 miles.
On horseback, journeying with average speed and with reasonable rest breaks is 10 to 12 days.
This is a free RPG thread for the noble families, commoners, and visitors of Dor-en-Ernil;
writers may roleplay loosely or develop RPGs of their own or with others.
Tales in this thread centre on the region of Belfalas, including the lands east
of Ered Tharonion - the Mountains of the Lofty Pines - and west of swift Gilrain.
Use this thread to add colour and events into your character’s every day life. Fill those spaces left between the harbours and inns, have a walk on the street, or visit your friend, this is the place to live a day with free descriptions, from dusk till dawn and to the next sunset. You might also write of quests which take you all over the Prince's Land. Also, you might roleplay your character's home or estate which lies outside the walls of Dol Amroth, but within the borders of this fair fief of Gondor.

As far as the eye can see, they stretch across the horizon, choked with smoke and haze from Orodruin. The orange-tinged sky glints off their armour and guttaral war cries and howls rend the air. They are the right hand of Sauron, the extension of his might, power- and mercilesness. Ready at any moment to do his bidding, they train and slaver for the day they may meet and conquer the free-peoples of Middle Earth.

Ages of Arda is an epic RPG series chronicling the historical events of The Silmarillion and beyond, giving elven, mortal, dwarven, Ent, and minion characters (including Istari) a thrilling opportunity to portray themselves, their ancestors, and canon figures in the legendary past and ultimately through the Fourth Age.
The series will conclude with an RPG based on the Dagor Dagorath prophecy of Mandos as detailed in The Last Road and Other Writings.
The current installment in this saga is Children of Endor. The RP chronicles the epic
events of the First Age from Fingon's saving of Maedhros to the birth of Gil-galad.
Since we've primarily had a Noldorin viewpoint for years, we've introduced a retro
mode of RP'ing - The Sindarin Experience - beginning with the Eglath searching for Elwë
and ending with the Grey-elves discovery of the Light Elves' return.
At the moment, Gondolin and Nargothrond have been established, the Edain
are moving slowly but steadily toward the Ered Luin, and the Dark Lords' project
to conceive wingless dragons has begun.

On a clear day you can see forever….
….or at least across the Bay of Belfalas, from the Havens of Umbar to the rich Anfalas coast. On a sunny summer day, a small fleet of Corsair vessels sets out on a daring raid, hugging the South Gondor Coast to hide in the lee of Tolfalas before breaking across the bay. They are spotted by two fishermen and a lone swanship; the latter stands his ground and is ultimately doomed, but the fishermen make it back to Dol Amroth to raise the alarm! Imrahil dispatches his Knights even as Golasgil puts out to sea to defend his coast, but will it be enough to halt the inexorable corsair tide?

The arts of healing, and all that touches on the
care of the body, are among all the Eldar most
practised by the nissi [that is...the women] / On
the other hand many elven-men were great healers
and skilled in the lore of living bodies.
~ Tolkien, Morgoth's Ring: Laws and Customs Among the Eldar
"Elrond is a master of healing."
~ Gandalf the Grey, The Fellowship of the Ring: Many Meetings
West of Elrond's Last Homely House, amidst the beauty of flowing rivulets and fair gardens and rich beechwoods, Adab Nestad is a quiet and peaceful place for those in need of healing.
The elegant stone building was established during the foundation of Rivendell shortly following the destruction of Eregion and its first patients were the elven and mortal soldiers who fought in the first siege of Imladris. The medics of Adab Nestad treat all who are injured and afflicted, regardless of race. Lord Elrond and Laurëlótë - the new Minestor - are the custodians of the ancient hospital.
Some healing will be done within Adab Nestad
but there are people who need mending elsewhere. There will be a blank Adventure/Outpost Roster given by either the Minestor or Tinestor daily for healers who want to go on missions with the Halcyon Guard and the Dúnedain or to serve at Alassë 's hospital at Ost-Halatir; whoever signs up will be permitted to have their character post at the elven citadel to heal the wounded brought there or to request a mission leader's permission in the Rivendell Activities thread to serve as a healer during a quest. If a medic would like to look out for the Rangers, she or he may ask group captains in the Lone Lands Activitiesthread if they can be healers during their adventures.
A Hospice Roster will also be given by the Minestor or Tinestor daily, showing the NPCs (there will always be 7 to 10) which need to be operated on at Adab Nestad, controlled by a healer; this roster will be updated with the patients RP'ed by Plaza members who arrive at Adab Nestad for healing and they can interact with a doctor. Every patient treated by a healer within Adab Nestad, during Halcyon or Ranger missions, or inside Ost-Halatir will count towards promotion to a higher rank.

"In the wide lands of Rhovanion, between Mirkwood and the River Running, a fierce people now dwelt, wholly under the shadow of Dol Guldur. Often they made raids through the forest, until the vale of Anduin south of the Gladden was largely deserted. These Balchoth were constantly increased by other of like kind that came in from the east, whereas the people of Calenardhon had dwindled. Cirion was hard put to it to hold the line of the Anduin.
…..the Balchoth, having built many great boats and rafts on the east shores of the Anduin, swarmed over the River and swept away the defenders. An army marching up from the south was cut off and driven north over the Limlight, and there it was suddenly attacked by a horde of Orcsfrom the Mountains and pressed towards the Anduin. Then out of the North came help beyond hope, and the horns of the Rohirrim were first heard in Gondor.” (The Lord of the Rings : Appendix A - Annals of the Kings and Rulers)
The year is 2510 of the Third Age. The Balchoth are preparing a massive assault on Rhovanion and Gondor in conjunction with Azog and the Orcs from the Mountains. Cirion the Steward is apprehensive and knows the might of Gondor is waning. He devises a desperate plan to seek aid from the Eotheod – and Eorl their leader.
The Bonds of Friendship is where the fortunes of the combination of these many diverse peoples thrown together in an epic clash will be told.

Following a short break, the Seasonal Archery Tournaments have returned! The autumn and spring competitions will be hosted by Roina Nilthoron (Aigronding) whereas the winter and summer matches will be sponsored by Tavari Mordagnir (Moriel) from now on.
A range has been prepared for the shooters this sunny and brisk autumn day by the beautiful rushing waters of the Mitheithel River north of Imladris. The location of the tourney has indeed changed this autumn for the woods bordering the mighty course are particuarly lovely this time of year!
A beechen table set with refreshments - such as pumpkin ale and Alagon's blackberry wine, fruit-shaped marzipan and salmon seasoned with lemon pepper - on a white tablecloth has been placed on the soft green earth by the riverbank facing the target lanes.
Behind the table sits the master of the event; green-eyed Roina, a tall and striking elf woman wearing a red and black brocade dress with matching cape, has quill and ink available for participants to sign their names on parchment provided for.
She will be awarding Hithaeglir Forest Cats for First, Second, and Third Place winners this year.

"With a dreamy, far-off look
And her nose stuck in a book
What a puzzle to the rest of us is Belle"
~ from "Little Town", Beast and the Beast
Disney Scavenger Hunt:
Belle is a princess now and has moved into Beast's, er, the Prince's castle.
She is having some valuables moved to her new digs,
most importantly books. The Prince's library doesn't have all the
latest novels like her village has been fortunate
to have. Belle's books have arrived...but....
there's a problem.
Chip has been having a ball as a mortal kid now
that he's got his old, er, young body back. The child has
been doing all sorts of mischievous things, including
robbing the wagon which contains Belle's books!
He only planned to hide them in the castle but unfortunately
he was discovered by Cogsworth. Chip escaped the prissy
fellow, hiding in a peculiar invention Maurice had just
finished building...a time machine.
Chip managed to get it working and has travelled back in time
to the days of Middle-earth.
Chip is pretty ecstatic about his trip and really needs to lighten his load
so he can explore Eriador. The little boy has been tossing Belle's
books all around the place
Here is how this scavenger hunt works:
Every so often, you will see a clue posted in this activity.
The clue points to a thread somewhere in this region.
In that activity is an image of a book.
Be the first person to find the image and provide
a link to the post which contains it. At the end of
Halloween, the member or guest with the most icons
is the winner!
And Belle will be delighted to have her
books returned for her. Thankfully, Maurice has made
two time machines and Cogsworth has taken one to
Middle-earth to find Chip and get those books handed
to his possession.
HERE is the thread!
Silliness, trouble, and mischief abound! We all saw how Lilo's quest to present Stitch as the next great Elvis impersonator turned out, especially for poor Nani, but the real question is...what will Stitch do next?

So corrupt (and bored at their posts), in fact, that they can be bribed into letting you pass onto the next guard--and finally, to freedom!--by simple demonstrations of your strength, knowledge, or wit!

The monster in the lake
My name is Delqua and I reside on the bottom of the Long Lake since the beginning of time. You've probably never heard of me because I dwelled secretly in the black, cold depths of the lake until recently strangers have ventured into my domain. They somehow got hold of a rumor that I may be hiding treasures on one of the many islands of the lake. Because I'm old and have a short sight, I sleep most of the time and only swim during the day. I may have missed to tell you that I am a giant sea snake with terrible jaws and a powerful bite. Or maybe I'm not. Dare steal my treasure and find out.
Happy Holidays to everyone! As a treat, I present to you the latest RPG in the land of Eriador:

All in Middle Earth are Cordially invited to the Midwinter Ball at the Tavern of the Seven StarsIt is an elegant establishment where Gondorians and friends come dressed in their finery to enjoy an elegant dinner and dancing.
This evening it is even more beautiful than normal, for it has been reserved once more for Minas Tirith’s annual Midwinter Ball. Fresh-cut green garlands interspersed with crimson berries deck the walls and add a fresh scent of spice and growing things to the air. The Steward’s long silver banners adorned with the White Tree hang among them. Long tables line the walls, laden with holiday dishes of all sorts – succulent roasted meats and vegetables both stewed and fresh; fruit compotes and elegant pastries; fresh rolls and pickled goods, and a special platter of celebratory honey cakes. The end table is crowned with a large Wassail bowl and many fluted crystal glasses of the beverage. A formal bar at the far end of the hall is also available for patrons to obtain drinks of all sorts, from rich lagers and ales to heady meads and sparkling wines.
The Central area for dancing has been expanded to accommodate the larger gathering, and a small orchestra plays in the balcony that overlooks the hall to provide ambiance and tunes for the couples who dance across the floor.
So, come one come all to the midwinter ball! Wear your best cloak or finest gown, and lace up your dancing shoes for a whirl on the floor with your love or an acquaintance brand new. Partake of the feast of field and vine and celebrate the turning of winter toward spring again. The Yuletide and the New Year are here!

Yes, it's back again! DIE is Mordor's series of diced RPGs! DIE RPs are short and swift and will give everyone a chance to participate, regardless of RP skill level. Each round, a roll of the dice will determine whether you live, are injured, wander off, or DIE. This time on DIE: Orodruin is very angry today, and rumor has it that chucking hobbits into its belly will appease the volcano. What's less clear is whether hobbits or minions will make it off the mountain after having to content with hordes of angry lava snakes.
